Discussion New rule added regarding age.

1.1k Upvotes

As of today there has been a new rule added to our list of rules.

Rule #15 - Age 30 or up required to post.

(Rule description):

This sub is for those who (socially and/or medically) transition later in life aka at minimum 30 years or older. Posts from people younger than this will be removed. There are plenty of other trans related subs directed at younger folk. For comments there will not be an age requirement.

I understand that this new rule might upset some of our users but for a while now there has been an uptick in the amount of users that post here while being in their twenties or even teens. And as mentioned above there are plenty of subs for younger trans folks.

Edit: to clarify since some users asked this specifically. If you transitioned before your 30th birthday but are now age 30 or up, you are allowed to post.

Moderator Announcement!!!!!!

To help keep out the riffraff out of our subreddit, an Automod rule has been added. As noted in the rules, any newly created account will have any post/comment moderated until either the age criteria has been met or the user has been approved by a moderator. (Whichever comes first.)

For most users already here, posts and comments will show up as they have in the past. This is to help prevent unpleasant individuals that create throwaway accounts for the purpose of posting hate to our subreddit from spreading their hate.

I used to wear this dress to cons pre-hrt, before I identified as trans. I haven't worn it in awhile. I put it on the other day for an event at my local LGBT center and was really happy with the more feminine silhouette I've developed! It fit me much better than before. I'm no longer a box. ๐Ÿ˜† Albeit I'm still 40+ and trying to get rid of some remaining dad bod. But happy nonetheless.

Share Experience Sucks to look at younger women and realize I'm both no longer that, and that I missed out on that.

Turning 35 has hit a specific "I'm halfway dead" trigger in my mind. I'm generally accepting of it, accepting of my death, and I have a great plan to spend my last 30 or so years. I am going through a midlife crisis in that sense, but I feel that I will be better for it. There's only one painful thing: I never got to be a teen nor much of a 20-something. The pandemic took the last of my 20s, and I didn't get to experience them much. I spend my pre-transition years drinking and smoking weed mostly, and finally sobered up after coming out. I got a brief stint out at 28, and then COVID and I was 31 before normalcy resumed.

Youth is wasted on the young indeed. There are so many youthful activities I still wish to do, a new life I want to carve for myself. I can't though, my body is getting tireder, and my life has become quite set in its ways. I have a great life, and some great new paths I want to take going forward. I'm happy to be out as myself. I'm joyous I'm still a lady and 35 is quite young to many here. Still, there are so so many missing years and I think any trans person gets that. They weigh heavy on my heart when it's difficult to sleep at night. And now, seeing the age on my body starting to come through, I'm getting that reminder that I'm somewhere else in life than the younger generations.

Share Experience I used to play dress-up behind a locked bathroom door as a kid. Transitioning gave me the fairy tale

A few nights ago I got to dress up for a friendโ€™s enchanted forest party, surrounded by people who love me just as I am. I wish that little girl from my past could have known that someday she wouldnโ€™t have to hide alone in a bathroom, scared that it meant something awful or broken that she wanted so deeply to be a girl

Share Experience Title: Does estrogen make you cry excessively, or is something else going on?

I've been on estrogen for a little over a year now, and I've definitely noticed that I cry a lot more easily than I used to.

These past few months have been especially hard emotionally, and lately I've found myself crying almost every single night before going to bed. It's been happening for about a month now.

I just get overwhelmed with sadness and loneliness, and sometimes I can't even really explain why I'm crying. I just feel incredibly alone.

I know estrogen can make you more emotional, but is crying this frequently normal? Has anyone else experienced something similar while transitioning?

I'm starting to wonder if this is just part of the hormonal changes or if there's something deeper going on with my mental health.

I'd really appreciate hearing about other people's experiences. โค๏ธ
