Bots create controversy, which generates engagement, which makes the platform (Reddit, YouTube, Facebook) money.

Only because advertisers are being lied to about what is actually happening on the site. If they were fully aware how many of the accounts are bots, advertising wouldn't be worth shit.

I renember Musk "exposing" how many bots were on Twitter, and them buying it anyway. Fucking hypocrite.
