Once upon time three baby opossums nested in my window for a while
They found an existing squirrel nest and hung out for a while

Looks like they recognized each other then became peaceful. They're probably siblings.

Her name is June, after a possum my family and I rescued, rehabbed, and released when I was little

Found this youngster out in the street in the afternoon. I gave it some walnuts since I assumed it was out on the hunt.

Does it need help?

I went to put food out, and she about gave me a heart attack lol. She wouldn't move, just looked at me with that 50 tooth stare 😏

A month or two ago these guys have been getting into my house, I've been relocating them outside and here's some pictures!

They seem to get along with each other pretty well

We put some pavers under the bird feeder so that the seeds that drop don't get moldy by sitting on wet ground. Apparently, this opossum was going about its business until it smelled/saw the new pavers and then "nope'd" right out of there. Later, a different opossum (no dark at the base of its tail) came by and had no problem with them.

She just warms my heart. 💜

Shortly after I got home from work this morning, I looked out the window to see an opossum in my driveway. He (or she) kept walking in circles, had raspy breathing, and appeared to have an injured jaw. He came right up to me when I went outside. I gave him some mashed banana while I tried to find a wildlife rehabber to help. I talked to 4 people, but no one could come get him. I spoke to a woman at a wildlife rescue and, while she couldn’t take him, she gave me some advice for creating a warm, safe shelter and some ideas for feeding him with his likely broken jaw.

He was curled up under my front porch and I wish I had fished him out and put him in a storage tote temporarily. By the time I got back from buying supplies 30 minutes later, he was nowhere to be found. I searched every inch of my yard and walked all over the neighborhood, but I couldn’t find him anywhere. If he didn’t go off to die, what are the chances that he may return? I put out some applesauce for him, but is there anything else I can do to try and lure him back so I can at least give him a safe, warm place until I can find a professional to help him? I work in an emergency department at a hospital and can deal with people trauma, no problem, but the thought of this little guy being hurt and scared and alone is killing me and I feel so guilty for not securing him before I went to the store.

I've never known the trust of an animal quite like an opossum. As she lays curled up in the crook of my arm breathing softly I know she feels safe.
