In the 1990s, a person died in the Goliath at Six Flags Magic Mountain. I just happened to have tickets for the next day. The park was empty. We're talking, 1 minute lines for rides that usually took 20. I just stayed in a coaster once when there was no line.

As a kid, I had to time of my life. As an adult, I feel guilty for enjoying results of a death

Was at 6 Flags Great Adventure in the early 80's the day after 8 teens lost their lives in the Haunted Mansion fire. I don't think we waited any more than a minute or two to get on any ride at all. The area was closed off and you could still smell the smoke and the area was crawling with investigators. We talked a lot about going or not but eventually we decided to go because Summer was approaching and it was unlikely that we'd all have the time off again until September.

Reminds me of this YouTube video of a guy who visits locations after terrorist attacks.

  • Honey, I have a surprise for you - I'm taking you for a full week vacation around New Year!

  • Oh, how nice! Where are we going?

  • Oh right now you can pick between Ukraine, Iran or Gaza, but additional locations may open up in the future!

  • 😳

This reads like an american learning about capitalism.

You were a kid, kids aren’t capable of advanced empathy.

Be easy on yourself.

I had to go to Vegas for a family member’s event the week after the shooting. I was fully grown and felt almost dirty about it.

I was there that day, happened as we arrived so it was already closed by the time we got in the park. Crazy thing is it was reopened later in the day.

Meh, I don’t think you have any reason to feel guilty about it and frankly I’d be surprised if you really feel guilty about it.

I was raised catholic. Guilt is in my blood, baby!

That’s what the sacrament of Reconciliation is for, my son.
