Damn I used to think it was illegal but looking it up after reading these comments prove there isn't a single state or federal law that prohibits it specifically.
Even if there was, it’s like the laws that say you can’t have things on your windshield, or hanging from your rearview mirror. Everyone has stickers for parking at their office or apartment which are illegal and everyone has dash cams on their windshield, or air fresheners is hanging from their mirror. All of those are illegal, but are just pretenses to pull someone over. No one gets pulled over solely for that reason unless someone was looking for a reason to pull someone over already.

No they don’t lol. It isn’t “a lot” of states.
