Development Flathub just reversed its AI-generated content ban, but developers still need to say they used it

Are you saying the examples are listed are not true? Or just that they don't matter?

I already addressed people looking at the stupidest examples they could and extrapolating them to all datacenters. There's nothing else left to add here.

True enough, though I think my opinions still stand even if I'm not versed in the details of how to vibecode the most effectively, just as I could criticize Bitcoin without knowing the minute details of its implementation. Perhaps we're approaching this from different value sets? For me, what videcoding provides is not worth the cost of the dependence it breeds.

You need to take your realization of "I don't know what I'm talking about" to it's logical conclusion instead of immediately dismissing it.

AI most definitely is very political!

using a clanker to write random bits of code is not inherently political, you're just projecting all the FUD you've ignorantly bought into on to it.

Pardon me for being dismissive but it's hard to care about the opinion of somebody who doesn't know what they're talking about and seems to be proud of that fact.

I feel like we're talking past each other, but I'm compelled to comment one more time. You know the saying about arguing engineers and mud-wrestling pigs 😁

Did you miss this part from my comment: "AI data centers are incredibly power hungry compared to regular data centers"? This is a rather key difference that is causing real world harm right now. The data center argument will probably become obsolete in the future as technology progresses (unless Jevon's law holds,) but we don't live in that future yet.

You need to take your realization of "I don't know what I'm talking about" to it's logical conclusion instead of immediately dismissing it.

Yes, if I were debating the technical merits of different AI coding methodologies, but I'm not. I can plainly see AI can do amazing things, but what I'm talking about is the cost at which it comes. For the purpose of that argument, what's inside the black box is irrelevant, it applies just as well whether it's an LLM or Actually Indian. You yourself said you shouldn't look at most of the code the AI produces, and that's exactly my point. That's outsourcing your own skills. (I do recognize this can be a good tradeoff for some people, if programming is merely the means to the end they're actually interested in and not their craft.)

If it's just random bits of code, then sure, it's not very political at all, like most of what we do at the individual level. But it becomes political at the aggregate. I'm sure you agree we live in a society where people need jobs and money to live, right? What's going to happen if AI becomes so good and cheap, humans can't compete? We can't change that future with our individual choices of whether or not to use AI, but we should be politically awake (or dare I say, woke, haha) enough to act collectively if that happens.

I feel like we're talking past each other

It's more that you're repeating the same dumb things that I already addressed over and over like they're some sort of new revelation. You're rambling about tools you've never used like you're some sort of expert, you're rambling about issues with the power grid like they're the fault of datacenters, you're bringing up the single stupidest example of power generation that was illegal before it started and has already been shut down by the state it was occurring in. The exact thing I already addressed.

I couldn't care less about what you're saying because you're not putting the effort in to develop your understanding to the point of having a meaningful discussion. I've been repeatedly pointing out that you don't know what you're talking about, you've agreed with me at one point, and yet you still seem to think you have meaningful words to say on the subject. Why?

The "Waah I want this non-political tool to be political because REEEEEE" attitude is disgusting, too.
