My boy was recently diagnosed with a very aggressive oral cancer. The prognosis is very poor. He is 9 this month and this will be his last birthday with us. šŸ’”

My sweet Charles. He is as loving as he is beautiful.

Zoomies at the rainbow bridge

My Adora Belle crossed the rainbow bridge on Saturday. She was 9 years old, my best friend and I miss her terribly. She loved to go for runs and walks and we went out every single day, sometimes for long runs or sometimes short sniffaris. We did cross country road trips together. She was such a good girl despite the fact that she would have sold me in a heartbeat for a piece of cheese. As a younger dog, like clockwork at 16:30 she’d come running into my office and bork and bork until I’d get up and follow her into the garden where she’d zoom and zoom until the bee in her bonnet had settled down.

I hope she’s found all the hounds that crossed the bridge before her and they’re having the best game of bork and zoom and creating the kind of pandemonium that hounds seem to have a knack for.

These are my first and last pictures of her. Give your hounds an extra hug today.

Hound Dogs are not good pets?

I'm genuinely curious, did my parents just get a bad dog??
Their dog is almost their sole purpose in life (they are retired) and they do almost absolutely no training with her. They spoil her and cater to her every whimper or scratch to go out the door. It's basically their only grandchild.

Every time I watch her, it takes about a week for me and my boyfriend to retrain her and get her to listen somewhat. She is constantly trying to jump up on the countertops and literally acts like a feral animal most of the time. The only times she acts like a pet dog is when she's sleeping.

I could see her being great for an outside only environment or taking her hunting but I genuinely do not see how this would be a good pet to have? Especially for a retired couple that doesn't train their dogs??
I'm sorry I'm mostly venting but are they all like this???

Dry eyes

Post image

My gorgeous girl has been waking up with big green boogers in her eye. I have to take a wet paper towel to fully remove them because there’s a lot. Typically more appears throughout the day too. I’ve had her on drops from the vet, and didn’t see much improvement. She’s had conjunctivitis before (way worse than this) so the vet tested her tear ducts today. They said she isn’t producing enough tears and put her on an eye lube and some other eye drop.

Does this seem normal for a 1 year old foxhound mix? I feel like it is allergies or some infection, but the vet was very certain of the dry eyes. If your hound has this, any tips?

She can look so different in different positions. Adopting her from a rescue group 6 years ago was one of the best things that's happened to our family. According to Embark's DNA testing, she's half beagle, 1/4 pitbull and 1/4 blue heeler. 🩵 I wonder if there's a little cat in there somewhere, seeing how she likes to loaf as seen in the photo of her lying on an ottoman. šŸ˜„

All she wants is to love and be loved. And sleep under the covers with Mama (me) every night.ā˜ŗļø
