New tech announced last year

We got these new lasers installed that show what packages to grab, green pulsing circle or red X. Only really works once you have cleared 20% of ur shelves for space or if you have a light load, but makes searching for packages quicker even after organizing.

QUESTION Am I in the wrong?

So I was doing a delivery today when I pulled to a house on a two lane road with two solid yellow lines in the middle. There were no cars behind me when I stopped and flipped my hazards on to deliver the package. Usually I’d pull into a driveway in these cases but I didn’t see it at the time till after I got out and was halfway up the hill. As I got out I saw 3 cars stopped behind me so I delivered quickly. As I was walking down one of the cars rolled their windows down as they passed bye calling me a “fat fucking r*tard”. Didn’t taking me no longer than 15-30 seconds but curious if I was in the wrong and should have not stopped.

Finally, I quit after 4 years. Im finally choosing me, my family and my quality of life. If you’ve got children- serious question; How do you do it? I’ve felt like the worst parent constantly being on the road with extremely inconsistent scheduling.

Had to fit all of this in a U-Haul rental van, couldn’t fit all the overflow but I fit about 20 overflow or more. It was a 200 stop route somehow managed to finish like 5 mins earlier than I was supposed to but ever since that route my knee has been killing me.

RANT Unreasonable request

I’ll keep the details of this event to a minimum to follow community guidelines.
Yesterday while on a route I was bitten by a dog and called in to make a report and receive workers’ comp for care. After given directions to my closest hospital and arriving I receive a cal from my DSP asking me to, not receive medical care, but drive 45 minutes back to the station (while actively bl**ding) then get in my personal car and then go back to this hospital!! (This hospital was the only one that was open and took workers’ comp since it was Sunday) I told my husband this and he couldn’t believe how ridiculous this request was. Dispatch later apologized but still what were they thinking???

Customer rant 🙄

So I am in BFE today, I mean I had 68 stops an hour and a half from DSP BFE. I’m out doing my thing, reading notes of course because I’m a good DA. Notes on this stop say “leave packages under carport in case it rains so it won’t get wet.” I say to myself okay bet, say less. I put it under the carport in case it rains, idk the weather forecast there. We’ve had scatter storms too because of the hurricane where we are at. I get back to my van and the customer opens the front door. I holler did you want them up there? Customer just nods their head so I do the nice thing, step out of the van, grab them, and apologize saying “sorry the notes said to leave it under the carport” customer said “read the rest of the notes, when it’s raining” … oh that fired me up because it said IN CASE not WHEN. So I pulled the notes back up and read them to the customer and customer snapped “exactly” … ohhhhh absolutely not, it also said it was furniture in your notes, is this shit for a Barbie dream house or what?

Am I overreacting? This is genuinely the first customer I’ve had that seems ungrateful and I did what the notes said, it said IN CASE not WHEN and idk the weather there, it could rain like I said any time, it’s 2.5 hours from where I live and an hour and a half from DSP, not like I look at every place I could go to weather, I just pack for everything.

I got suspended for a week for van damage

Bad day/Bad route on top of it being a busier season. Only been there 3 or 4 months. My first incident. I was on a decently busy road with curves and I had a stop where it was across a a little bridge thats about the width of the van. Ive done bridges like this before no problem but fucked up on this one. Didnt help I had people tailing me. I took a wide turn like I usually do but it wasnt enough. I scraped the back part and tore off some of the back siding. I mean it was either I park on a curve on a busy backroad or take the bridge. Felt like either way i was screwed.

Any advice for the new guy?

Hey yall I just finished my training I would love some advice before I do the ride along tomorrow

I drove the EDV for the first time today and ngl it was scary asf that fucker is hugeeeee and the brakes also being the gas pedal was hard because I didn’t know and still don’t really know how to gauge how much I’m supposed to be lifting my foot off and how early I’m supposed to do it so any advice with that would be really nice

I got a cooler and stocked that fucker up with powder liquid iv and advil other than water and lunch is there anything else I should consider taking with generally to make things easier?

Also what do you wish someone told you when your first started?

Overall despite the piss bottles I’m actually kind of excited to start this job I’m really looking forward to potentially losing weight and making that cash I feel like I’m finally starting to become an adult and am one step closer to a future I can look forward to (not this being long term the goal is to save up for a few years and go to school again) idk ik a lot of ppl hate this job but for those who don’t how do you thrive?

Their drive way 3x the size of my apartment and had long horns all around the property fence line. The house was beautiful and reminded me that some folks are living humbly with not bitterness just joy. I love running rural routes!

How reliable is the EV E brake on super steep driveways?

• Upvotes

Yesterday there was a stop with two driveways basically joined at the bottom and then split apart curving to either side. I went up the wrong one on the right, was almost to the top and thought about jumping out and delivering to the right house on my left. But the driveway was superrrrr steep. felt too risky.

Also it didn’t appear to be a turnaround at my house so I basically backed down, put the small box in a plastic bag and left it at the foot of the driveway rather than drive back up this steep, 200 foot driveway. I might get a complaint but in the moment I didnt care. How would you have handled this?

Yeah the north east of United of States we are all coming together and we will get $30/hr. minimum it is that easy stick together and demand better pay and free health insurance for our broken backs. If you are against better working conditions go comment on Bezos Instagram. Crazy how we have gotten this far with shit paying jobs in America.

RANT Android Auto nonstop notifications

Post image
5 Upvotes

How do I get rid of this shit?? It makes no difference if I connect, disconnect, or just disable the app altogether. Android Auto takes over the screen with bullshit notifications that prevent me from doing this job with any speed.

If I connect, android auto pops up over the Flex app asking to share contacts & messages EVERY TIME I plug the phone in to charge.

If I disconnect, the van desperately tries to Bluetooth pair every few minutes, even if I hit “block” on the phone side.

If I disable android auto on the phone and delete the phone from the van, I get a “no installed apps work with this USB accessory” pop up every 30 seconds.

It seems like nothing I do actually keeps unnecessary notifications OFF the screen. Who the hell designed this shit?? I just want to drive and deliver packages without dismissing nonstop notifications on the phone every 30 seconds

Every driver went on strike

• Upvotes

what do you guys think would happen? I think we would get compensated better. But there is the possibility we all get fired and they hire anyone with a pulse actually? And how do you get new hires to turn down amazons offer?

Thanks Trying to Get This Ball Rolling.

I started doing research 1981 Reagan Fires 11,345 striking air traffic controllers. I think once the working class realizes their value we'd enter ww4 the citizens against our own government. Because the government is so paid by the big companies shit is all fucked.

A country is a strong as their weakest citizen. America is looking like 💩. I'm one health care emergency away from homeless.

So I'll see you all the streets homeless when the robots take over or I'll see you this year striking for what we deserve.

Amazon Hub Driver With Questions

Hello all! My business started with the hub program a few months ago and its been mostly positive, but it seems like a few of our drivers really hate delivering to us and I just don't understand why. We try to communicate well with them, the storefront is right off the road so they have to take the packages like 20 feet tops, and they get to unload a huge load off their van right away. They have been acting like its a huge inconvenience. It seems like a pretty easy stop, but Amazon isn't exactly known for treating workers the best so I figured there has to be a reason. Is there some way we can make the experience better?
