Show Spoiler Who had the most traumatic death scene?

For me it was Tyreese. It did drag out a little longer than I wanted it to be, but it was executed very well. Reminiscing with older characters really hit home and saddened the scene even more.
What death got you the hardest?

Show Spoiler Daryl is the heart and the soul of this show

The more I watch it, the more I see it. It's amazing how he managed to establish a rapport with pretty much everyone and how people turn to him, totally organically and without looking forced.

Also, he and Carol are the ultimate pairing and I will die on this hill. Not as romantic partners, I'm actually really glad the show doesn't ever go down that road. But they simply are BFFs - even when they both scoff at the idea!

When you have an actor this good you gotta give him space to create. I love the Comics not the shows so much but he really stands out.

Show Spoiler Season 11 is hard to watch

I was interested at the start of the season after they had just introduced the Commonwealth, and Maggie and her people returning but the season so far has been a complete slog. I’m on episode 11 and I just could not care less about the stuff in the Commonwealth. Am I really supposed to care about alleged inequality and workers rights when the alternative for these people is being attacked by psycho bandits or eaten by walkers?

Don’t even get me started on Pope and his merry band of idiots that had a kind of cool intro and then turned into generic crazy people. This season has also returned to something I hated in season 7 and 8 where they introduce characters and kill them off at such a rapid pace it’s impossible to form any connection to them. Basically every person Maggie returned to the show with was killed off in less than five episodes.

The pacing is also just a huge mess. The beginning of the season with the Reavers and Daryl took like 8 episodes to resolve and it was only a few days in the show. Then we have another time jump and suddenly most of the characters are in The Commonwealth. I think?? I’m two episodes in and I don’t even know if everyone’s there or not. The show is literally about to end and there’s nothing I’m really interested in right now. It’s kind of sad.

No Spoiler I know Rick's supposed to be the main character but after (you know) it kind of felt like Michonne was the main character.

I love Michonne, and I really do think she carried after Rick left and imo she carried a lot when Rick was still on the show, I love them both & Michonne really held it down at Alexandria.

I always kind of disliked andrea and especially how obsessive she is over guns but this genuinely just made me hate her. Her sister died from a walker not too long ago and now with a smile on her face she wants to send glen in to a well with one for essentially shits and giggles? the well was obviously already contaminated from the walker sitting in there for who knows how long and even if it wasn't they have like 4 more. 0 reason to risk someones life for something that trivial.

WHY DID THEY HAVE TO KILL AXEL!? I liked this guy so much, he was funny, had a conscience, was a good mechanic. He was almost like the spiritual successor to dale but without all the downsides of dale such as infantilising a nearly 40 year old woman among other things. I thought he had a future with the main cast, was able to fill the missing mechanic spot they had, and he had good platonic chemistry with carol. He had so much potential and they just killed him off for essentially no reason.

Show Spoiler Does Carol ever get a break

I just got to the scene where Henry’s head is on a stick.

God I love Daryl. He was the one who never gave up looking for Sofia. And now he’s sheltering Carol and holding her because of Henry.

I knew the Alpha was evil. But damn.

I shoulda known though. He was getting alot of screen time & that doesn’t happen unless one of them is gonna die.

ALSO what the actual fuck. There were so many main characters dead.

No Spoiler Do I have an affinity for sociopaths?

I'm currently toward the end of season 8 so far. (Episode 15) Maybe its just appreciation for greatbacting but should I be concerned that I kinda like Negan? Lol I mean, don't get me wrong he's a sick bastard sometimes but his personality, sense of humor, and that damn smile has me kinda liking him. I admit, I am a bit twisted myself sometimes with an appreciation for dark humor and such so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. 🤷‍♂️

Fun Post TWD Daryl dream

I had a dream yesterday, Daryl Dixon survived longer than a normal human, along with some of the gang, we beat up and killed some bad guys ofcourse, humanity somehow still managed to go intergalactic, he also got pregnant somehow??? And a weird alien machine incubated his stomach or smthng???? Anyways, lots of spaceships and worlds and crazy survival with Daryl Dixon, idk if this type of random post is even allowed here, but yea I saw him get pregnant (without contact) on some intergalactic shii.

Show Spoiler I think Rick has the best character arc in TV History

In season one he was just a man looking for his family

In season 2 he was forced to kill people and debate to kill another one(randall)

Also a man was forced to kill his best friend

That man lost his wife shit go fucked up at the same time with the governor and so psychological like the hallucinations which were so real to him . He went crazy when people were dependent on him

He was literally hallucinating his dead wife when people started shooting at him

By season 4 he lost the man who held the humanity and the morals of the group together and by the finale (A) he was too far gone to save his child in the worst kind of situation you could be stuck in

In season 5 he gave up on humanity for his and his people's survival

Because it's all about survival now

He found a nice community and was thriving for a bit and then made the worst decision of his life that ended up in the loss of lives of many including Glenn and abraham

By season 8 he committed to destroy the saviours no matter what

In the process he once killed a man (choked him to his death) and then saw the dead guy's new born daughter and then saw in the mirror what kind of a person he has become

What's the difference between him and the people he is fighting?

Then his son was killed unfortunately after that he lost his humanity completely and in the episode "Still gotta mean something" he was at the peak of his "evilness"

That encounter was so effective even to him in that situation that made him read the letter which lead to his redemption arc and his famous quote

"My mercy prevails over my wrath" grieving his son's death

Then he was with his people for a while everything was going well right? Shit happened again he was taken away from them robbed of his only reason to stay alive and now he is committed to back to them

He suffered for years forced to cut his hand in the process just to fail

But he made it

His character changed my perspective on life ngl he is so well written until season 8 atleast

All Spoilers Why is nobody talking about Mercer and Pamela? Oh wait, I know why... (TWD late-seasons rant)

Post image
65 Upvotes

Look, I know this is probably an ice-cold take at this point, but I’ve been thinking about it and I just need to get it off my chest. How come nobody ever talks about characters like Mercer or Pamela Milton? Like, literally nobody brings them up. And the reason is simple: the show basically died after the Negan and Whisperer arcs wrapped up. By the time we got to the Commonwealth stuff, it just felt like a totally unnecessary, dragged-out addition. Let's be honest, most of us only watched those final seasons out of stubbornness just to say we finished the whole thing, not out of actual interest or joy. Compare that to the first 5 seasons. Man, I swear I remember them like I watched them yesterday:

  • Rick waking up alone in that hospital bed
  • The whole slow-burn chaos with Shane (what a ride that was)
  • The Governor arc
  • Terminus and the cannibals
  • Everything leading up to Alexandria (even if things started getting a bit weird there)

Even Negan’s intro at the end of season 6 was peak television, no matter how frustrated we were by that cliffhanger. Honestly, this is why I low-key respect UK series so much more. They know when to wrap things up instead of stretching a story way past its expiration date just to squeeze out more ad revenue and profit. They quit while they're ahead before it becomes totally unbearable. I know it’s a cliche opinion and I'm probably preaching to the choir, but I just wanted to be heard. Anyone else feel the same way, or did you actually enjoy the Commonwealth era?
