Theory/Speculation MAJOR POLL: When will TESVI release?
I'd love to see a huge turnout for this poll. Please limit shitposting and please vote for what you actually believe!

Hey community!
It’s been a while since the moderation team did a "state of the subreddit" post, but we believe that the recent months’ activity warrants discussion, as well as some reflection.
As any regular will have noticed by now, quite a lot of shitposts have been posted since The Game Awards last December. Today these posts still get a lot of engagement and the number of upvotes-to-downvotes make it clear that the far majority of you enjoy this kind of content.
However, recently we have heard feedback from people that worry that the subreddit is heading in a direction where shitposting is becoming the main focus. Some of our veteran members already decided to leave the subreddit due to this, including people who contributed quite a lot, sadly.
With this post we want to have a proper discussion with all of you about what type of community you want this to be – and how we get there.
During The Game Awards in December 2025 a new meme trend started on the subreddit – the statue posting. A couple of months later we had shitposts discussing what kinds of lavender, clouds and grass TES VI would have. Afterwards the Summer Games Fest madness took over and "Tomorrow"-posting rose.
It seems that we get something new every month, and now it’s about pretending that the game has been released. As it stands right now, these posts are still getting quite a lot of engagement. It will likely blow over soon only to get replaced by a new trend.
Not everyone is a fan of the shitposts, but generally these posts have been received well. Here are some stats from some of the recent ones:
| Post | Views | Upvote % | Reports |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wow, what an absolutely fantastic game. | 41,000 | 93% | 3 |
| How is everyone enjoying the game so far? Just beat the first boss. | 30,000 | 91% | 5 |
| can someone point me into the right direction to the staff of worms? | 15,000 | 86% | 2 |
| New info on DLC! | 7,100 | 81% | 2 |
| Feel like a total idiot for crafting the Dwemer gun | 4,300 | 81% | 1 |
Most of the reports we see in relation to these posts deal with the “No Low Effort Content” rule. Many posts and comments have also been removed – 100+ in the last seven days – which includes the many posts featuring AI generated.
However, it’s also our opinion that quite a lot of the shitposts are in line with our rules. As specified in the rule “Posts must […] offer value to the community.” We acknowledge that shitposting is not everyone’s cup of tea, but these posts are popular and they do result in (positive) engagement.
Looking at our stats, it’s also quite clear that engagement has risen significantly since last year.

It would be hastily to conclude that the looser atmosphere has resulted in this increased growth, but we can at least conclude that the shitposting didn’t prevent it.
Whatever the case, we acknowledge that the many shitposts aren’t for everyone. Quantity doesn’t necessarily equal quality and we want to make it clear that we hear the criticism that these recent months have sparked, and that we are willing to talk about it.
We don’t want r/TESVI to become a meme sub. The primary focus of the subreddit has always been to be – and should continue to be – a subreddit for people who want to discuss TES VI.
We are facing a small hurdle, though: TES VI isn’t out yet and it’s unfortunately not coming out Tomorrow™. We have preciously little to discuss that hasn’t been covered a dozen times already. Anyone looking forward to sailing mechanics?
My personal worry, as someone who browses this subreddit every day, is that the overall activity of the subreddit will lessen significantly if we take a hard stance against meme content. Either that or we go back to discussing the same topics every week. Balance is needed.
But what is also needed, perhaps, are new ideas. So, with all that yapping out of the way…
What feedback and ideas do you have for the subreddit?
We are receptive to feedback on how we moderate content, but we also hope that everyone will take this change to bring forth ideas to foster more engagement. Ideas to keep the subreddit interesting during times when news about TES VI are sparse and far between.
For example, an idea I shared with the team was to introduce a weekly post where we discuss a specific theme, e.g. what factions we would like to see, what kinds of new game mechanics we’d like, and so on. Is that something you’d be interested in?
Let us know what you think.

Here is a bullet-point breakdown of the interview as it pertains to TESVI:
Overall, I'd say we got a lot more out of this interview than I really expected to. In some ways it felt like we heard more about TESVI than even Starfield. What do you guys think of all of this information, and what does it say for the development timeline of TESVI?

The most interesting thing to me is that - from what I've read into - the guy they named Lead Designer is apparently super into factions and his big desire is to make 'politics impact the world more'. In that his big complaint is, apparently, that you have been able to - in both Oblivion and Skyrim - be the leader of the Fighters Guild, Mages Guild, Thieves Guild, and Dark Brotherhood; and the game world simply doesn't care.
As I understand it, his big hope is to 'Make that impact the game world more'.
So. Here's the points I think will flow from this
I believe Bethesda's biggest goal in this game - based upon the guy they put in charge's stated desire for this - won't be "Omg the second great war", at least not in a "Beat up the Thalmor" sense. I believe it will be "Intricate politics and a highly reactive world to those politics" - I believe the ability to be pro-Thalmor is more likely than "Me and the good guys beat up those awful Elves."
I believe the game is likely to aim to be a 'Successor to Daggerfall' in that sense.
Aight. I threw my shit at the wall. In a few years we'll likely know if it sticks.

Let's imagine that we start the game as a convict on a prison island.
At some point, a faction hostile to the island's owner launches an attack, and we take advantage of the chaos to escape.
At the end of the escape, we have to choose character to flee with (just like in Skyrim), this will determine which departing ship you’ll board.
Consequently, this will determine where the game begins for you, since one ship heads to Hammerfell and the other to High Rock. In both cases, you’ll end up in the coastal equivalent of Riverwood in each province.
Both paths lead into their respective province’s regional main quest, eventually converging into the game’s overarching main quest.

Imagine how cool it would be to be moving around loot when you're over encumbered.

If anyone knows the spell to summon the Trademark guy please drop it on this post.
It seems that most people on this sub (myself included) believe that we're most likely going to see the game released at the end of next year, with a full reveal at the June show and hopefully, if we're lucky, some info/a tease at the end of this year at TGA.
If we pretend for a second that this is true - when will we see the subtitle trademarked?

I just made a nice post asking if people thought there might be any news for the 15th anniversary, and it got flooded with angry people and downvotes. For real, what is your problem? The subreddit is specifically for this; if you're angry at Bethesda and convinced their next game is going to be terrible and AI slop, just move on to another franchise and let the rest of us enjoy it.

i made a new arrangement of stros m'kai from the best elder scrolls game: redguard, in the style i imagine tesvi could have

I like that elder scrolls games don't limit what skills you use to stuff that you've picked in your build, but I do also think there should be skills that you don't have access to at the start of the game. In the mainline games the only real examples of this was the perk trees for vampirism and lycanthropy, as well as the perk for forging stahlrim being quest dependent, but ESO has a bunch of different skill branches that you only get access to after starting a certain quest.
There's so much hidden knowledge in elder scrolls that a level 1 layman should know literally nothing about, like shadow magic, the thu'um (for non-dragonborns), dream magic etc. Also if they had some skills that weren't available at low levels then it would be much less effort to balance them, and it would make it possible to add new skill trees in future updates and Dlc.
Although painfully underutilized, the couple zero g areas Starfield had were really fun. I hope these mechanics are reused to add back levitation even if it's limited to a couple areas

Since there have been a couple of posts on this recently, I decided to share my own views on how blacksmithing should be handled in the game.
My main gripes with previous crafting systems in their previous games:
Skyrim - too grindy, not enough incentive to level "naturally", with repairing your gear for example.
Fallout 4 - the best crafting system they have had so far, not surprising since the entire game was built around it. Though I don't think this formula fits for an Elder Scrolls game. The only significant critique of this system is that it resulted in unique weapons often feeling less unique.
Starfield - similar to Fallout 4 but due to the game not having a "scrap emphasis" and the game having more types of crafting components, the requirements (research materials, crafting materials) for crafting became too tedious to acquire for me.
For TES6 my hope is that we can strip back the layers of barriers to get into crafting specific gear. This could be achieved by recipes not being tied to perks, but rather quests.
Imagine helping an Orkish blacksmith with a request, such as a gambling debt or their family member being kidnapped and in return they teach you Orkish blacksmithing. Later game variants like Daedric or Ebony would have harder or longer quests tied to them.
Blacksmithing perks would focus on maintaining armor and making it stronger, allowing you to pseudo "enchant" it. You could of course pay blacksmiths to repair your armour, provided they are skilled enough to work with the material. This way you would constantly be incentivezed to level up smithing or have something to do with the bucketloads of gold that is usually hanging around in your pockets by midgame.
Let me know if you have any additional ideas for how blacksmithing should work in TES6.

I know it says in the lore that once Kagrenac struck the Heart of Lorkhan, the entire race disappeared from existence and (with the exception of Yagrum Bagarn) haven't been seen ever since, but I really do want to interact with the Dwemmer and do quests for them. Is it possible that somehow, the Rourken Clan survived, since Hammerfell is where they went and its speculated that TES6 is in Hammerfell? What do you think?

With Todd Howard mentioning his goal for TES6 to be the "ultimate fantasy world simulator," a lot of us on here have been wishing for a deep, immersive blacksmithing and enchanting system. We want something closer to dedicated simulators where you actually pick blade styles, hilts, and runes, rather than just clicking "Iron Sword" in a boring spreadsheet menu.
But let’s be honest: not everyone wants to spend hours manually striking an anvil. For a stealth assassin or a scholarly mage playthrough, forcing the player to become a master manual craftsman completely breaks the roleplay.
On the flip side, Starfield proved that abstract, resource-heavy menu crafting gets tedious fast.
I think the perfect middle ground is a diegetic UI coupled with an "Order List / Apprentice" delegation system. Here is how it would work:
* The Bill of Materials: Instead of a floating UI menu, you sit at a drawing desk to design your weapon. You pick the blade shape, guards, and materials. The game then generates a physical parchment scroll in your inventory a Bill of Materials.
* The Apprentice / Commission System: If you don't want to craft it yourself, you walk up to a local blacksmith or hire an apprentice for your player home. You hand them the physical scroll.
* The Economy & Time Loop: The smith gives you a price and a timeline (e.g., "This will take three days"). If you provide the Ebony ore yourself, the fee drops. If you want them to source the rare materials, it costs a premium. You go dungeon-delving, come back a few days later, and pick your custom sword right off the weapon rack.
* Skill Tree Integration: The Blacksmithing/Manager perk tree could directly influence this. Investing points could lower apprentice labor fees, speed up production time, or unlock "Design XP"—giving you a small amount of smithing progress just for architecting the blueprint.
This completely saves the roleplay. A wealthy mage can finally use their gold and influence to commission a legendary staff from a master enchanter, while a dedicated warrior can still choose to spend their nights manually hammering steel at the forge to save money and gain raw experience.
What do you guys think? Would you prefer a system like this that keeps the crafting in the actual game world, or do you prefer traditional, snappy menus?

Do you think Al content will be a major part of tes6?
I wonder if they'll look at ESO for an example of how the playerbase dresses or acts so they know what to implement.
Personally I hope we get some weird goofy shit, like maybe a Jester class of some sort. Or some plague doctor looking stuff.
But most of all I genuinely hope they flesh out and expand the werewolf and vampire gameplay this time around, I just want special dialogue options or maybe skillchecks similar to the Fallout series.
EDIT: Okay maybe not a class system, but starfield traits like I was thinking or at the very least some kind of occupational title you can be referred to as in-game if that make sense.
Adding onto this I genuinely just want to be able to be own my own shop or trading stall so I can sell shit and maybe have that impact the world in some small ways, like you see bandits out in the world with gear you sold or maybe get special orders/quests to fulfill?

It is just the extremist Thalmors with their elite troops, the justiciar and enforcers, or there is the possibility that they bring new groups to the game?
