We couldn't have ever guessed BTE would be what it is today. It's Nick's baby. Kenny and I originally didn't think a documentary series would work. Now, with the help of our amazing cast, it's been the most rewarding thing in my career.
Cody, Hangman and Marty have been such a wonderful addition. The show has really picked up since they came on board.
Marty is tremendous but I'm also crazy impressed with the charisma Hangman has shown. His fired-up speech in the RAW invasion parking lot, about "shoving that flag up Triple H's ass!" got me really fired up.
Marty's yours now. Please look after him. We miss him in Progress. It's hard letting your kids go, but sometimes you need to let them grow up, leave home and conquer their own country.
Why didn't you guys think it wouldn't work? I love your skits and storylines but I love the "real" side of all your traveling as well. It really hit home when I saw in one episode on BTE that you missed your daughter's first day of school (I think) because you had to work an event.
I'd say the episode where the narrative switches from a travelogue-style documentary to a show with an actual plot would be the best place to start. The first big plot was the poisoning storyline, so... sometime before episode 50? Maybe episode 46 or so? I'm sure a BTE superfan can correct me. :)
Not to discount those early episodes, but you can only watch so much "well, we fly around the world a whole lot", which is why it's great that they started doing storylines on the show.
Yeah, I started later on and went back to the beginning afterwards, and you're right. The early episodes are kinda cozy and worth watching a few at a time when you have spare moments (especially since they're shorter than most episodes now), but they're mostly the Bucks walking through airports, talking about how they're back at the airport.
Personally I'd start a little earlier, around episode 40 or so, just to make sure you have a good lead-in to the end(?) of the Adam Cole story. Or if you're impatient, skip ahead and start with "The Bullet Club gets a Villain," which summarizes a lot of the buildup. I wouldn't start any later than that.
