Release Magellan is a file visualization app with a focus on images:

Thumbnail gallery
10 Upvotes

Main features:

- Completely free! No paywalls or locked features. AND NO ADDS!

- Image search: You can search images with SauceNAO and Google.

- Thumbnail visualization: Including optional cache options for better performance.

- Favorites: You can create group favorites for all sorts of files and images.

- Farview: You can create a temporary visualization folder that lines images in sequence. That means if you have many images in different folders, they will "become" a single folder that you can quickly visualize. This is just for visualization; nothing in your local folders will change.

- File selection: Select files just like in Windows Explorer. But with the added benefit of keeping your selection even if you move between folders.

- Image Viewer: contains a built-in viewer with unintrusive buttons and navigation.

Discussion WTF did they do to SpeedCrunch??? It's so slow to start now.

Just updated to SpeedCrunch 1.0 and wondering what is going on....

This software was a great replacement for Calculator because it was nicer and faster, but now it's so slow and the UI is different.

Anyone know what's going on?

Looking for software is there a screenshot app that functions near-IDENTICALLY to Apple's?

I get so frustrated with window's dogwater snipping tool. It takes far too long to get from> dragging the window size on what you want to capture > instantly saves and becomes png on the desktop.

I. Do Not. Need. Anything Else.

I've tried various recommended screen capture softwares and if im honest they either felt bloated or it had FAR too many unnecessary features. If it worked the same way apple's did, it's a two-key command shortcut to freeze and slightly darken the screen, dragging reticle reactivates the region's brightness, releasing instantly saves png to desktop. With another variation (cmd+shift+5 as opposed to cmd+shift+4) if I wanted to screen record a region, rather than just capture.

The differences are, in most (all??) other 3rd party screen-recording apps out there, none of them (to me) seem as utterly brainless/seamless as the native mac screenshot functionality. I'm desperate.

Release [OC] sitegrab - A zero-dependency website mirror tool built in C++ (CLI), C# (WinForms GUI), and Python

Post image

I wanted to share a tool I’ve been working on called SiteGrabber. It’s a lightweight tool designed to recursively mirror any website to your local disk, downloading HTML, CSS, JS, images, fonts, and video files for completely offline browsing.

Release I built a local index MCP so your agent stops grepping the whole disk. It reduces up to 42% of tool calls and 21% cheaper on a 33k-file monorepo.

I don't know if you've noticed, but when Claude Code, Codex, or any other agent needs to find code, it runs grep. It searches your files for an exact string, reads a few results, and greps again until it finds what it wants. You pay tokens and wait for every round.

That worked fine when repos were small. But codebases are growing fast, partly because agents now write so much of the code. Every grep round costs more than it did last month, whether you notice it or not.

There's a second problem: grep only finds what you already know how to name. Ask it for "where we handle rate limits from the billing provider" and it gets 0% right on the first try, because it needs the exact string.

So I built Pensieve. It's a local index of your code, documents, and past agent sessions. Any agent can query it over MCP and get the few files that matter on the first try. A few cents saved per lookup doesn't sound like much. It adds up over hundreds of lookups a day.

Check out Pensieve!

Release Droidline, a free open source tool to automate your Android phone from your PC (no ADB or root)

Thumbnail droidline.dev
13 Upvotes

I made Droidline, a free and open source tool for controlling an Android phone from a PC.

You install one app on the phone and scan a QR code once.

After that your PC can tap buttons, type text, swipe, take screenshots, read notifications on the phone over Wi-Fi. It doesn't need developer mode, a USB cable or root.

You drive it with short scripts in Python, Node.js, C# or from the CLI.

This Python script opens an app, closes a pop-up only if one shows up, signs in, waits for the next screen, reads a value off it and saves a screenshot.

from droidline import connect

d = connect()
d.launch("dev.droidline.demo")
d.wait("text", "Sign in")

if d.exists("text", "Close ad"):
    d.touch("text", "Close ad")

d.input("id", "email", "knife")
d.touch("text", "Log in")
d.wait("id", "main_tab", timeout=15)

print(d.get_text("id", "balance"))
d.screenshot("after-login.png")

It finds buttons by the text or ID they show, so the same script keeps working when the layout moves around.

It can also listen to notifications.

This waits for a bank app's deposit alert and hands it to your own code.

d.notify_filter(["com.example.bank"])
n = d.wait_notification("textContains", "Deposit")
print(n["title"], n["text"])

It's also quick. Finding a button by its text on a Galaxy S23 Ultra, median of 10 runs on the same screen

  • Droidline 16 ms
  • Appium UiAutomator2 100 ms
  • adb + uiautomator 2,368 ms

The lookup happens on the phone itself, while adb with uiautomator saves the whole screen to a file and reads it back every time. The benchmark scripts are in the repo if you want to run them on your own phone.

And you can try this one without a phone, because Droidline comes with a phone simulator that runs this demo app.

Some other things you can do with it

  • run the same routine on several phones at once
  • read text from screens that have no buttons to find, such as games, with OCR
  • test your own Android app on a real phone, with a pytest plugin that saves a screenshot when a test fails
  • let an AI assistant like Claude or ChatGPT use the phone, with only the actions you allow

The PC side runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, and the phone needs Android 9 or later.

It can't unlock a PIN or pattern screen.

It's MIT licensed and every feature is free. So far I've tested it on two Samsung phones, so I'd like to hear from anyone who tries another brand.

Release LetsFG - my tool to book hotels & flights reached 2.1k github stars

Post image
0 Upvotes

I have posted in this sub before so some of y'all might recognise me or the project. It's been 2 months since I've posted in this sub, and a lot has changed since then.

I've taken into consideration a lot of suggestions that you guys gave, and did a lot of iterations that I think made the project so much better.

For those who are new and don't know about this yet, 6 months ago I started LetsFG - a travel platform for AI agents, and I occasionally shared some updates over this sub because I have a GitHub repo which is a key part of this project, it serves mainly as the center of the community where a ton of people opened issues or gave their suggestions.
LetsFG is basically a tool for AI (like Claude, ChatGPT, Hermes, Muse, Codex, OpenClaw etc) to search flights and hotels all over the internet, and end-to-end book you the best ones that you can find for your choice.

The recent updates have mostly been about hotels. I've seen and realised that there are some hidden pains that are there when tending to book a hotel even with LetsFG, so I dedicated myself to solving that problem.

For context, we pull data from wholesalers deals rather than scraping OTAs like Booking(.)com. So the options are almost always cheaper for the same offers.
And there was a problem I discovered that was beyond the fact of an option being cheap or not. It was the offer being reliable (when it comes to reviews)
Because for the most hotels that people bought from the tool, they were still skeptical about how the hotels would turn out to be.
People are even skeptical to the big OTAs so I could wonder how it was for us. And it's because for example Booking(.)com curates the ranking of reviews for the sake of reputation (Peter Levels did an amazing breakdown of it here).
And if you were to check the hotels reputation yourself it's really a hassle to check tens and hundreds of reviews for each option to get the best output - stupid in the age of AI.

So I figured out a solution for this and added it to LetsFG. The hotels you find are of course listed in multiple more websites even google maps or often Reddit, so what it does is that for every option it checks multiple of the reviews (both good and bad) and that way it’s able to get real info. And filter out hotels that are not what you want.

There were also a ton of updates we did to flights, like split tickets, currency arbitrage, flying for points being worked on right now, and like sooo much more stuff a lot from our amazing github community feedbacks. But hotels have been a priority lately (we needed hotels for personal trips too :P ).
Anyway, hope this helps somebody out there who every wanted to book travel with Claude or ChatGPT, and yeah. Let me know any thoughts :)

Release Tokalot: an open-source Wispr Flow alternative

Thumbnail github.com
7 Upvotes

I've been using voice typing a lot lately and really liked Wispr Flow, but I didn't want another monthly subscription. So I built Tokalot, a free, open-source (MIT) voice typing app for Android and Windows, with early Linux and Mac builds.

You talk, it sends the audio to a speech-to-text service with your own API key (Groq by default, and their free tier covers most people), then an AI pass cleans it up. It drops the "ums," applies corrections like "no wait, I meant Thursday," and matches the tone of the app you're in. Then it types it where your cursor is.

  • Android: a small button floats above whatever keyboard you already use
  • Windows: hold Ctrl+Win in any app, talk, let go, and it pastes
  • No account and no Tokalot server. History and recordings stay on your device
  • If a provider is down it tries your other keys, then falls back to on-device Whisper, so you don't lose what you said
  • Optional sync of your dictionary and snippets between phone and PC, through a file in your own Google Drive, Dropbox or similar

A couple of honest caveats. The Android APK isn't on the Play Store, so you'll get a scary warning, because it uses the accessibility permission (that's how it types into other apps, and all the code is public). The Windows installer isn't code-signed yet either. The Linux and Mac builds have barely been run on real hardware, so if you're on either one, a bug report would help a lot.

Jobs & Education Career suggestion

I'm from tier 1 NIT non circuital branch. Some stuff at college happened, and I ended with 8lpa sde job. That is completely because of college placements policy faults. I didn't get a chance to prove myself.

Coming to point, I'm unsure what to do now.

  1. Try off campus(i applied like 200 jobs, no response)

  2. prepare for gate cse(i didn't particularly prepare for gate, but I am able to score 30-40 in practice test, since ik dsa and cs fundamentals)

  3. join the lowball offer and try to switch asap

(If I want to do mtech cse, I don't to do mtech in nit again, I want to do in iit)

Please guide me in these decisions, I have fried my life enough with no guidance :(

Release RemoveMacAI 1.0, a free open source app to turn off apple intelligence and clean up macOS 27

Thumbnail gallery
5 Upvotes

macOS 27 dropped the one switch to turn apple intelligence off, and the models sit on your disk taking around 12 gigs whether you use them or not

i made a tool for it last week and 1.0 is a full app now instead of terminal commands

it turns apple intelligence off and removes the models, but you can keep any feature you actually use

privacy stuff like mac analytics, personalized ads and the siri improvement thing off

stops other apps' background updaters, stops the play key from opening music, clears old installers and caches

plus a bunch of finder and dock tweaks people kept asking for

you see every change before it applies and there's an undo page for all of it

SIP stays on, nothing in /System is touched, no network requests, no account

apple silicon on macOS 27 only for now

Release OMNI CONTROL: free AGPL Windows mouse DPI/Hz utility, experimental OpenMouse preview

I'm the maker of OMNI CONTROL, a free Windows 10/11 x64 utility for changing mouse DPI, polling rate and supported button actions. This release is AGPL-3.0-or-later with the complete corresponding source available in the release's source ZIP. AI assisted with development and this post.

Release, source and checksums: https://github.com/XtechnologyAK/OMNI-CONTROL/releases/tag/scorpion-expiremental-1-openmouse-preview

The interface is deliberately plain and native. On my Attack Shark X11, DPI, Hz, buttons and onboard macros have been physically tested. This preview adds OpenMouse drivers for experimental DPI/Hz control on additional models. That support still needs hardware testing; generic macros and RGB aren't included.

It runs locally with no app account, background analytics or automatic diagnostic upload. A helper starts for requested operations and exits afterwards, so this preview has different resource use from the earlier native-only build.

Feedback I'd find useful: your exact mouse model and connection, whether DPI physically changes, the five-second polling-rate result and whether settings persist after closing the app and power-cycling the mouse.

The build is unsigned and hasn't had a fresh antivirus scan. An earlier build's conflicting results are documented in the release notes. Please review those notes and source before deciding to run the experimental build.
