I know using 3rd party exchanges always carries risk; just making people aware of this situation I did not realize could happen.
I had someone try to buy my student section ticket for a non student. I sent it to the email as instructed, but the buyer was not able to claim it because they already had a student ticket in their account. Purdue makes this policy clear, and this was an oversight on the buyer’s end.
They filed a dispute with StudentSeats, who then refunded their money and canceled my sale listing because I couldn’t provide proof the transfer was accepted. By then, the game had already passed so I lost the opportunity to sell that ticket.
I argued with a customer service bot, which just said, “If the process outlined in the Student Seats app is followed, these issues should generally be avoided.” They did not answer when I asked what process I should follow to avoid this.
Not a huge deal for a football ticket, but would suck to get screwed out of selling a more expensive basketball ticket. This happened to me with Aries Tickets last year, which was why I’d switched to studentseats.
