Edit: The Confederates were predominantly Democrats, not Republicans. Southern Democrats were the main political force behind secession and protecting slavery. Abraham Lincoln was a Republican, and his party opposed slavery’s expansion.

Oooh single biggest.

For me, the biggest issue is the erosion/destruction of the middle class in America and more broadly the standard of living. Im incredibly pro labor and will happily support and vote for anyone who will bring manufacturing back to the states.

The grid I think is a close second. Anything that strengthens the grid im usually for and im against things that weaken it. Love opening power houses, hate closing them for solar or wind.

The confederate was mainly founded due to the removal of slaves from the Union. It was the driving factor, especially when California went anti-slave despite being below the line and being forced to have it.

The Nazis modeled a lot of their government after the confederacy and Jim Crow southern states, while also taking inspiration from Mussolini and Spain. Beyond the obvious internment camps genocide… Nazi Germany also used a large number of forced workers to make their weapons late into the war. Yes, they employed slaves. Crazy how authoritarians do that so often…

MAGA is the “new” authoritarian on the block. Their policies are clearly meant to sow doubt and division and cause chaos. All the while they are dismantling key parts of the constitution and paving the way for more overall government control. It’s clear they will use the guise of “safety” and “security” to push more authoritarian policies that go against the freedoms and liberties the US normally stands for (at least in ideology, in practice the US has been a pretty shit place depending on where you lived).
