Unfortunately with Mason out the ceiling for this season drops immediately. It sucks but unfortunately it’s just where we’re at. I don’t particularly care about going 8-4 instead of 6-6. I’d much rather watch 6 games of a 6’6 true freshman with a cannon arm try and figure things out and potentially develop into a solid QB, then watch a fifth year senior struggle to make wide open throws in a simplified offense. I get it may be safer to play conservative offense with an older QB who may have a higher floor. But given the outlook of the rest of the season without Mason, why not take a risk on the freshman with upside?

What does everyone else think?

“You think about it, he will get better and better just from the experiences. Got a lot of faith and trust in him. He'll get those throws. He'll be much better. I was happy with the way he played today in his first start, and he'll learn.”

Narduzzi didn’t play any games, not hesitating during his post-game news conference that Geriner will start next week at Boston College.
“Absolutely, we have a lot of faith in him, and (freshman quarterback) Corey Dailey will keep getting better as weeks go on,” Narduzzi said. “Without a question, a ton of confidence in Holden.

-- this is a 5th year senior, not some true freshman you should be having growing pains with. If you're gonna do that, play Dailey and get something out of it. They guy can't make the throws and obviously has terrible mechanics and sailed most throws. Play the kid!

My recap from the Pete last night — that 38-36 third set was truly bonkers.

Just a quick heads up to any football season ticket holders that want to ensure they are able to pick up the one Tony Dorsett bobblehead doll that is guaranteed per season ticket account outside of the ones going to the first 10,000 fans in the stadium.

You must reserve your bobblehead in the Pitt Loyalty Locker by 5p.m. on 10/8/2026 to ensure there is a bobblehead reserved for you. Link to the Pitt Loyalty Locker is below. Reserve using the same email account your season tickets are purchased under.

Two years ago, Pitt Volleyball was 14-0 headed into a midseason home-and-home series against SMU, won in Pittsburgh, but lost in Dallas.

Will this 14-0 Pitt team create a different result against SMU?

Y’all were great! Nothing but good times, friendly people, and fun. Every interaction I had was positive. Congrats on the win.

Also, if you happened to park with us (we are the ones close to the stadium, cheapest in the area, and allowed indoor bathroom use) you were extra awesome! So cool to see the various groups get together and party in our yard. And thank you for cleaning up after yourselves. Can’t wait to see you again in ‘28!

Is there any reason tickets are $100 this week? I normally work Saturdays but randomly got off this week and wanted to go to the game.

What is with these guys? Starkey, Madden, Kaboly, Smizik, Steigerwald, etc.

I've read online that some of it's due to Pitt not having a journalism school while rivals like WVU and PSU do. I've also seen that it's because pro sports are king in Pittsburgh.

Whatever the reason, as a recent transplant I've been shocked at the degree to which local media figures are both wildly uniformed and totally contemptuous of the Pitt football program. I've lived in college towns all over the country and this is truly remarkable in my experience.

Why are they so miserable, even when Pitt is doing well?

5-0! I hate how VT ruins their unique color palette with these stale uniforms, but here is how Pitt would look with them

Also my attempt at making a Pitt version of the VT logo. Quite ugly but I hope you guys can see the connection

Excited for next week not only for a great test vs UNC but also to steal their beautiful Jordan uniforms
