Did anyone see my hit & run? 210E Hill Ave Tues. 10/13 6:50pm

Hoping anyone had a dash cam and caught me getting rear ended on Tuesday evening.

My car is a White Ford Escape and I was driving in the slow lane between Hill & Sierra Madre.

It might have been a mini van or other similar sized vehicle. They were driving slowly with hazards on after they hit, but didn’t exit the freeway with me.

I’ve already filed a police report, but crossing my fingers someone happened to catch it!

4,160 housing units could be coming to Pasadena. But what if that's good?

For the first time I can remember, Pasadena is really approving and building housing, especially affordable housing, at the scale that the housing crisis demands. As a renter, I can't wait for this housing to come online and make my own landlord sweat about keeping the building full.

But it's not surprising that lots of people, many of them who have long had secure, paid-off housing of their own, are not happy that the city is set to build so much housing. You may have gotten some emails about a meeting of the Housing, Homelessness, and Planning city council committee tomorrow, Wednesday, at 5pm. Many opponents are planning to show up and try to get Pasadena to slow down building the housing we need. If you're a renter, a prospective homeowner, or just someone who sees how the lack of housing is hurting our young people, families, and seniors, can you help push back?

Here's a link to the agenda. You can email comments to [commentshhpc@cityofpasadena.net](mailto:commentshhpc@cityofpasadena.net) or join in person at 5 at City Hall in the Council Chambers on the 2nd floor, SE corner of the building. You can also comment virtually. Agenda items1-3 are all housing related, but item 1 is on the density bonus which has powered so much affordable housing in Pasadena. Reach out with any questions, and thank you for your support!

Tiger painting lost

Did anyone pick up a large painting of a tiger off the curb on S Oakland between Del Mar and California? My mother misunderstood my instructions and put it out there. It’s very precious to a close friend of mine and I’m desperate to get it back. Please help!

Private OBGYN practices?

Just had to pay an annual fee AND endure ADS when checking into my annual appointment. We can’t even check into appointments without seeing ads, REALLY? I attribute this to private equity and major companies owning doctors now.

Does anyone have any suggestions of PRIVATE practices in Pasadena for obstetrics/gynecoloy?

Reccs for local photographers for family / young kids’ photos?

Any of y’all used a local professional photographer for family photos that you can recommend? Bonus points for experience photographing toddlers or young kids. Looked on Yelp and saw some absurd pricing (eg $5k for a 45min session), and wasn’t sure what is market these days…!

Edit: THANK YOU for all the amazing leads!!! Will update with who we use!

What landmark defines Pasadena?

I'm taking a small course about disaster recovery, part of recovery is natural and cultural resources. A question that was thrown at us was what landmark would people "riot" over? I'm a recent transplant so I didn't have an answer. What would you say?

Scalp Massage

Hi all, wife’s birthday coming up and she mentioned that she’d like a scalp massage. I can’t discern between the six or seven or eight that seem to pop up in Pasadena. Any tips or recommendations greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Dog friendly trails

I have a newly adopted senior dog who is very stressed out around other dogs, so he’s not going to be able to go to dog parks. I’d love to get him some time exploring outside beyond our normal neighborhood walks. Any good trails that allow dogs that I can take him on?

Acorns… acorns…

Anyone else having to roll yard waste bins full of acorns to the street for collection has my sympathies. Having a massively prolific California live oak can be a real pain in the late summer and autumn!

And don’t even get me started on the spring when it releases layers of yellow pollen all over the yard and the car.

Still love my big old oak anyway, but damn is she a lot of work.

Help me quickly see Pasadena tomorrow!

Hello all! I am visiting from Michigan and have 2.5 hours to kill tomorrow in Pasadena. I’ll have a car but would prefer not to drive once I’m here. I’m looking for some suggestions to get a quick glimpse into this city.

I’m looking for a lunch spot, a coffee shop, any quirky museum (I hate to say art museums arent always me thing), a nice park, gardens, pretty architecture.

I walked a loop today pretty aimlessly: Arroyo and Del Mar, up to Colorado, over to Fair Oaks, through Central Park and then stopped at Jones Coffee Roasters. Don’t think I did a very good route, so open to suggestions for tomorrow!

Thanks :)

edit: these are all so helpful!! I’ll report back with what I do!

Thank you everyone! I went for a run through Cal Tech, had a coffee and sandwich at the Ginger Market. I walked around Old Town and had another coffee at Copa Vida. Checked out the City Hall and then picked up my nephew and went to drive past the Rose Bowl (I’m a big Ohio state fan) and was excited to see there was also a Jackie Robinson field! I then went to Kidspace with my nephew. Thanks for all the fantastic recommendations. Next time I visit, I’ll come on some day other than Tuesday to hit some of these other spots.

Proposal in The Huntington Questions

Hi all, I'm from San Diego and I was planning on proposing to my girlfriend here at the Huntington. I planned on doing it over a weekend right at opening and was going to have my cousin come take a few photos with her DSLR.

However I'm worried about the photo permit requirements I read. I want to do it in a more secluded spot and just be quick snaps of the proposal. Are they very strict about this rule? If so, any other suggestions of where to go instead for photos? Thanks!

People camped out in a line in front of The Palace

I was on a 7am morning walk Friday near DeLacey Ave and Dayton Ave and people were camped out, in a line with sleeping bags and chairs near The Palace. Any idea what was going on?

Anyone know why Hummus Labs is closed? I've been wanting to try it out but noticed this today.

It's also listed as closed on Yelp but they don't say anything about it when I checked their Facebook.

Any other Mediterranean places around? I'm so hungry right now and craving some. Some coworkers told me Zankou Chicken is good so I may go there.

Dog Sitter

Hi all!
I’m looking for a new dog sitter that’s local to the area since our current one is moving away in the coming months. We have two small dogs who are very friendly with people but aren’t the biggest fans of meeting new dogs. Boarding is hard for us cause of their personalities.

Rover has been a bit hit or miss for us, so I’d love to find someone through a personal recommendation. If you have someone you love and trust, I’d really appreciate it! Thank you!

Thrift store recommendations?

What are your favorite stores? I'm looking for funky, bright clothing and material at a cheap, non-consignment-type price. It will be cut ip and turned into quilts.
