[Announcement] New Rule Against AI, other Rule Changes and Clarifications

Hey folks!

For a while now, the mod team has been discussing a number of changes to the subreddit's rules, and it's time to let you know what's up. I'll give you the short version first:

  1. We have a new rule against AI.
  2. The rule for for formatting and vagueness has been split in two.
  3. The rule against unrealistic ideas has been reworked.
  4. To better accommodate these new and changed rules, we've re-ordered the rules.
  5. Clarification on how the "Community Question" flair is supposed to be used.

And now for the details!

Ban Against AI Generated Content

We not so recently polled the community on your feeling on AI generated content, and the overwhelming majority of you voted in favour of a complete ban against AI. While this was pretty much the outcome we expected, it's still really nice to see we're all on the same page.

Moving forwards the mods will be removing all posts suspected of using generative AI. To that end, here's the new rule:

Don't use AI.

  • Do not use generative AI such as chatGPT to write your post for you. We want to see your ideas.
  • Don't include AI generated images or other AI content to supplement your post. We encourage human art, and we'd much rather see photos of pen-and-paper drawings, or quick mockups in MS paint than AI "art".
  • This includes using generative AI to polish your idea, such as reformatting your content.

Posts suspected of using generative AI are at risk of removal.

If your post is incorrectly removed for containing AI, please let the mods know via modmail and we'll sort it out.

Formatting and Image Posts

We've noticed some confusion on where and how we allow images in posts, with too many users relying on images alone to communicate their idea. This was previously just a bullet point under the vagueness rule, but in the interest of clarity we've split it off into its own rule. There's nothing actually new here - everything works the same as before - but hopefully this should make it clearer for everyone.

The vagueness rule looks like this now:

Don't be overly vague, and be readable.

  • Make sure your idea is in the description, not just the title.
  • Titles should be descriptive of the idea.
  • Format your posts well; don't post walls of text. Use line breaks, etc.
  • Don't be vague; suggest a specific improvement or feature.
  • Be concise/don't waffle on too much.

Vague or unformatted posts are at risk of removal.

And here's the images rule:

Don't make image-only posts.

Including reference images is encouraged, but: * Images must be embedded or linked within a text post. * The idea should be fully explained in the text, with all key points understandable without looking at any images. * Images should make up a relatively small portion of the content. * Images must not be AI generated. (See rule 4.)

Image only posts will be automatically removed.

Unrealistic and Off-Theme Content

There's been some disagreement in the community and among the mod team about what is and isn't a "realistic" suggestion for Minecraft, especially as the game has grown it's become an increasingly difficult call to make. Furthermore, many ideas that are off-theme at first glance can be reskinned to something more reasonable, and we don't want to stifle that discussion. (E.g., Blimps and firearms may be too futuristic but happy ghasts and firework crossbows are not, yet serve similar roles.)

You deserve to have clear guidelines for which posts are or aren't allowed and, ultimately, we don't want to shut down discussion, so we've decided to soften this rule dramatically. Moving forwards, we'll only be taking down suggestions involving mature or explicit themes (stuff that might change the age-rating), as well as anything relating to real-world religions or politics. All that said, here's the rule:

Don't suggest mature topics.

  • Don't suggest ideas containing sex, drugs, gore, real-life religions or politics, etc.

Suggestions involving mature, explicit, or overly divisive themes will be removed.

This is one we'll be keeping an eye on, and we'd appreciate any feedback you have on it.

N.B. The portion of the old rule about easter-eggs and jokes still applies, but has been merged into the rule about unproductive ideas.

Reordering

As we're adding new rules and splitting old ones in twain, there's no better time to also rearrange the rules. We've brought some more important/frequently used rules closer to the top, and tried to keep related rules close to each other. We've also changed a few of the titles for clarity.

  1. Be nice and constructive.
  2. Only post ideas for Minecraft.
  3. Be original and consult the FPS list.
  4. Don't use AI.
  5. Include only one suggestion per post.
  6. Don't be overly vague, and be readable.
  7. Don't make image-only posts.
  8. Don't suggest mature topics.
  9. Don't suggest planned or existing features.
  10. Don't suggest scrapped or unused features.
  11. Don't suggest low-priority or unproductive ideas.
  12. Speak English.
  13. Have 10 comment karma before posting.

Discussion/Community Question Posts

We've seen some confusion surrounding these posts, and while nothing is changing, we wanted to use this opportunity to clarify. Posts meant to start broad discussions on a topic, such as "What would you add in XYZ update?" or "What do you think needs updated in XYZ area of the game?" are allowed, so long as the OP contributes to the discussion they want to start. We find these posts regularly generate interesting discussion, and so long as they use the correct flair, they're easy enough to ignore if they're not your cup of tea.

I encourage everyone to take a quick read through the rules to make sure we're all on the same page.

Thanks for reading!

[Dimensions] Items permanently lost on death will fall into the end.

Post image
837 Upvotes

Permanently lost items are items that have burnt, exploded, destroyed, despawned or fallen into the void. This would apply to any lost items, not just ones you've lost on death.

Another thing that could aid this is a universal rule in the end that makes items never despawn. This would solve the "where would items go if they despawned in the end?"

This ultimately means that you can never actually lose any items permanently as they would always find their way to the end.

Another thing you could do is have some amount of endermen hold some of the lost items or blocks too. You can kill them to recollect them.

[Dimensions] Drop Concept centered arounda new structure in the nether,Piglins & Gold

Post image
89 Upvotes

I'm back again with a drop concept, here is my concept for a drop centered on expanding Piglins a bit.

Here is the whole thing!

The Drop is named Hoards & Hogs

Piglin Villages

Hoards & Hogs introduces Piglin Villages, a new structure that generates in every Nether biome except the Basalt Deltas and Warped Forests.

Unlike Villager villages, which consist of individual houses, Piglin villages are made up of enormous tents constructed from a special material. There are three different types of tents: the Poacher Tent, the Gatherer Tent, and the Leader Hut.

The Poacher Tent

The Poacher Tent is a sharper-looking version of the standard tent. It houses specialized Piglin Hunters, who wear golden chestplates and wield crossbows.

Inside these tents, players can find unlocked Golden Chests containing hunting-related loot, including meat, string, arrows, and crossbows.

The Gatherer Tent

The Gatherer Tent has a duller, rounder appearance than the Poacher Tent. It houses specialized Piglin Gatherers, who can either be regular Piglins equipped with golden swords or the new Piglin Miners.

Piglin Miners are a slightly stronger variant of Piglins who specialize in mining gold. They wear longer sleeves, golden helmets and two golden bracelets.

The unlocked Golden Chests inside Gatherer Tents contain various gathering and mining supplies, ranging from mushrooms, wood, and netherrack to gold, gold blocks, and Golden Chains.

The Leader Hut

The Leader Hut is a small house occupied by a single Piglin Brute.

Inside, players will discover a LOCKED Golden Chest, which might initially seem impossible to open. However, the key is hidden beneath the entrance, cleverly concealed from potential intruders.

Golden Chests in these huts contain moderately rare loot, including gold nuggets, gold ingots, Golden Chains, and, on rare occasions, Netherite Scraps.

New Uses for Gold

Gold receives several new uses in this drop, expanding its role beyond crafting armor and tools.

Golden armor and tools are now more durable in the Nether than in the Overworld. They also no longer burn in fire, although they can still be destroyed by lava.

Gold can now be used to craft Golden Bars, Golden Chains, Golden Doors, Golden Trapdoors, Golden Chests, and Golden Keys.

Golden Locks and Keys

Golden Doors, Golden Trapdoors, and Golden Chests function normally when unlocked. However, right-clicking one of these blocks with a Golden Key links the key to that block, restricting access to whoever possesses the matching key.

Golden Keys can be duplicated using a Smithing Table by placing the original key in the armor slot and a Gold Ingot in the left slot.

Be careful not to lose your keys! Once a block has been locked, losing its key means losing access to whatever lies behind it.

Locked Golden Chests have a special property: when broken, they drop only themselves while preserving all their contents. Players cannot inspect the chest's contents through their inventory while it remains locked.

Locked Golden Doors and Golden Trapdoors cannot be mined normally, but they aren't indestructible. Explosions can still destroy them.

Bastion Changes

All chests inside Bastions are replaced with LOCKED Golden Chests.

Instead, players can obtain a Bastion Key by bartering with Piglins. The chance of receiving one is extremely low when trading individual Gold Ingots, but increases when trading entire Gold Blocks.

There is also a small chance that the key hidden beneath a Leader Hut will be a Bastion Key, giving players another way to access Bastion treasure.

Plodders and Plodder Wool

Earlier, I mentioned that Piglin tents are made from a special material. That material is Plodder Wool, a feathery block obtained from a new Nether mob called the Plodder.

Plodders are large, goofy-looking creatures found exclusively alongside Piglins. Their bodies resemble Striders, but instead of having the same appearance, they grow a thick mantle of feathers that Piglins use to craft arrows and construct their tents.

Sometimes, players may encounter a Plodder Jockey: a Plodder carrying a Piglin armed with either a crossbow or a new weapon, the Golden Spear.

When killed, Plodders drop ordinary feathers and Plodder Meat, which is similar to mutton.

Plodders also have babies called Plids, which are extremely small and fragile compared to adults.

Using Plodder Wool, players can craft 2 new items: the Plodder Carpet and the Plodder Bed.

The Plodder carpet is essentially just a new type of carpet,it can be dyed any colour.

The Plodder Bed,meanwhile,is a new item that allows the player to set their spawn points in the nether. If you bring this bed in the Overworld,it will allow you to sleep even if there are monsters nearby!

What do you think? Share your feedback!

[Magic] Use specific items to guarantee enchantments

The enchanting table should be able to consume other items than just lapis lazuli in order to guarantee which enchantment it rolls for. A few possible ideas include: pointed dripstone for sharpness, armadillo scutes for protection, pufferfish for thorns and respiration, cobwebs for silk touch, and phantom membrane for feather falling. Resin could potentially be for unbreaking due to the creaking's invulnerability to direct attacks. Lapis lazuli would still be available for random enchantments.

An exploration based approach encouraging players to find items from different biomes would be a lot more engaging than sitting at a xp farm re-rolling enchantments for an hour or sitting at a trading hall re-rolling librarian trades for just as long.

[Blocks & Items] Creaking Hearts should be allowed to spawn more easily

Currently, Creaking Hearts are incredibly rare to find, even in rather large Pale Gardens. This is because of their really restrictive spawn condition, which requires that the Heart to be completely surrounded by Pale Logs on all 6 sides.

This drives the chance if spawning a Creaking Heart from the 20% written on the wiki, down to 1-4%. This makes obtaining resin rather tiresome since if a Pale Garden is too small, it might not even have a Heart, while also rendering the experience of the Creaking rather underwhelming, since the player may never encounter them.

I think lifting some of the requirements or changing the structure of tree is needed to make Hearts more easily obtainable the first time, while also making the Creaking a legitimate mob to be encountered instead of a joke.

I think one of the following solutions would work:

  • Increase spawn chance for eligible trees up to 80%, so the global chance of finding a Heart would go up to 16%
  • Lift the requirement of having logs on all sides. This would allow exposed hearts to generate, which would make them visible, but the foliage and logs would still be able to hide them in some capacity. Instead of lifting it completely it might be possible to weaken the requirement, reducing the required sides to be covered from 6 to maybe 5 or 4

[AI Behavior] Sleeping in a bed should cover the player in the sheets (by remodeling beds)

Has anyone seen the trick of placing a cushion atop a bed so that it looks like sheets that cover the sleeper's body? I couldn't find an image of this.

Now that I've seen it, I can't unsee how weird it has always lookt that the players and villagers sleep on top of the bed instead of inside of it.

I've had several ideas for fixes.

The simplest fix would be to sink the player model into the bed such that only the head can be seen stikking out. The player model's body and the villager's body are 4 pixels long each, which by itself could fit inside of the bed model as it's 6 pixels high from the top to where the legs begin (the legs add 3 pixels of height, totaling as 9 pixels high, or 1 pixel higher than a slab). However, sinking the player model wouldn't suffice for a player wearing armor nor for the villager's profession clothing. This also wouldn't suffice for their heads which are 8 pixels long each and, if sunken, would therefore jut thru the bed's bottom texture, especially if the villager is a farmer with a straw sun hat.

Maybe we could just have the body become invisible during sleep and only the head render; but this would have the same problem with head-jutting, plus it would look hilariously goofy for the player or villager to sleep beheaded with the unused parts of the bottom head textures showing.

Alright, so it's time that the bed has gotten another remodel. The bed model itself doesn't have to change, but rather, each bed variant will have to get additional models for when the covers are filled with a tucked-in player or villager. Like cushions, this would not affect collision.

Maybe we could also get a 3D and color-variant pillow as a related change to each existing bed model.

Now, if a cat sleeps with the player on the bed, that animation would need to be reworkt lest the cat get covered, since cats are supposed to actually sleep atop the bed.

[Combat] Okay so I have no idea if this is allowed but I didn't see anything against it so here I go, *note, all of these have to do with arrows and the Fletching table

Heres my suggestion,

"The Archery & Fletching Overhaul: Material-Tipped & Cauldron-Dipped Arrows"

The Problem

Right now, the Fletching Table lacks a unique survival function, archery progression hits a wall early, and arrows are limited to standard flint or basic status effects. Additionally, tactical items like Fire Charges are completely outclassed by Flint and Steel.

Here is my Solution

This proposal transforms the Fletching Table into a specialized utility station. It introduces a deep, two-step crafting and alchemy loop that allows players to forge Material-Tipped Arrows with unique physics and mechanics, which can then be dipped into Cauldrons to stack potion effects.

------------------------------

Fletching Table UI

Instead of using a standard crafting grid, players use the Fletching Table to combine basic arrows with raw materials to modify the ammunition’s physical behavior:

Base Game Materials

Copper-Tipped Arrow's

Acts as a grounding rod. In thunderstorms, it channels a minor lightning strike to the target or arcs electrical damage to nearby wet/iron-clad mobs.

Amethyst-Tipped Arrow

Shatters on impact, letting out a resonant sound wave. It creates an echo-pulse that temporarily outlines nearby enemies through walls (similar to the Spectral Arrow but as an AoE).

Diamond-Tipped Arrow

Features high velocity and a flat flight trajectory. It is designed for armor penetration, completely ignoring a percentage of a target’s armor defense.

Fire Charge-Tipped Arrow

This Gives a purpose to Fire Charges

Upon impact, it bursts into a small radius of real fire blocks. Perfect for area denial, igniting TNT, and setting traps from afar.

End-Game & Trial Chamber Materials

Netherite-Tipped Arrow

Heavy, high-damage, forged with Netherite Scraps. They have a steep drop arc and shorter range, but deal massive damage/knockback and are completely fireproof (won't burn in lava)

Breeze Rod-Tipped Arrow (Wind Arrow)

Triggers a localized Wind Charge explosion on impact. Bypasses the target's natural Knockback Resistance, allowing you to launch even heavy mobs (like Wardens or Netherite-clad players) to reset the fight. It can also trigger wooden buttons or levers from a distance.

------------------------------

Alchemy Stacking (The Cauldron)

Example 1 (The Ultimate Sniper): Dipping a Diamond-Tipped Arrow into a Potion of Harming creates an armor-piercing round that inflicts instant damage directly through heavy defenses. (Okay due to some misconceptions basically the diamond does the first armor piercing damage and then and only afterwards it forces the potion effect onto the target so it's pretty much like throwing a Potion right after firing a arrow but in one single entity)

Example 2 (The Gale Lock): Dipping a Breeze Rod Arrow into a Potion of Slowness causes the wind burst to create a lingering gale. It launches targets backward (ignoring knockback resistance) and immediately inflicts Slowness, trapping them where they land.

Example 3 (The Tracker): Dipping an Amethyst-Tipped Arrow into a Potion of Poison shatters to reveal hidden targets while slowly draining their health.

----------------------------

⚖️ Balancing & Reusability

Missed Shots: Specialized arrows that miss and hit blocks can always be picked back up by the player.

Hit Shots: Arrows that hit a mob have a high chance (e.g., 80%) to drop as an item upon that mob's death, provided they aren't destroyed by fire or explosions.

Enchantment Balancing

The Infinity enchantment does not work on any material-tipped arrows. This ensures resource management, manual retrieval, and strategic preparation remain core parts of the combat loop.

[Gameplay] Destroyed entities spawn in a structure in the sift

Saw a post earlier about despawned items dropping into the end and it gave me this idea:

Any item that despawns, gets destroyed, or breaks, can be spawned (once) in a structure in the sift. Would be added to a loot table that a new structure draws from for item frames, or a chests, or placed if its a block. Items would be limited by how many can fit in a chest.

Any mob that gets killed could also spawn there, maybe 2 or 3 per a specific room.

If the player dies in the void, their stuff is equiped to zombie (or other mob) that spawns in the structure.

This gives a way to recover items and pets, but also creates a challenge with increased difficulty with the more mobs are killed. If possible, everytime an item/mob is drawn from the loot table, it gets removes, so eventually you will be able to get every item back. Obviously needs testing and should be a gamerule. Probably best for a mod

Edit: clarified that items and movs have an upper limit per structure. also removed mobs despawning as that'd be insane. just mobs killed get added.

Sand is not that infinite that's why I suggest adding this mob to the game

Things that they can do

1.eat coral and turn them into sand

2.eat stone to turn them into gravel

3.if you put them next to a coral they will automatically poop out a sand dust

[Gameplay] Enchantment tables and their new features.

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

Well, if we look at the game from the perspective that the player will want to explore everything themselves and not watch guides on YouTube, then this addition will be very useful. Basically, I want to break down the enchantment table and where beginners can learn about it, as well as some new features for it.

WELL, firstly, as shown in the pictures, in strongholds, with a 15% chance, a broken enchantment table can spawn in libraries. This is a new block. He will appear with a story, as if he was created a long time ago and has already aged, which is why the obsidian has changed to weeping obsidian, and some of its parts have crumbled or turned black. “What’s the point?” you might ask me. The point is that you won’t be able to enchant items on this enchantment table. This way, players will be able to find out that an enchantment table exists, but they’ll only have a broken version. This will make players want to make a regular enchantment table, which will encourage them to look for crafting recipes. In addition to this, another mechanic can be added. Now, all enchantment tables will also deteriorate over time. I don’t know exactly how long it will take for the tables to deteriorate, but I think it will be around 50 in game days. This isn’t certain yet. However, the rate at which an enchantment table deteriorates will also be influenced by surrounding factors: if it gets rained on or snowed on, if water or lava drips from above, if it’s in the dark, if it’s rarely used, and some other factors. But if you want to slow down the corruption process, you can do the following: if you place carved bookcases within a five‑block radius and fill them with as many books as possible, if you use the table regularly, and so on.

WELL, THAT’S IT. Don’t judge the drawings too harshly (I’m not an artist) well, now, have a good day, everyone!

[Mobs] New Creeper Varient - Filler

Post image
187 Upvotes

The Filler is a different kind of creeper that is purple instead of green. Instead of blowing up and destroying things, when the Filler blows up, it regenerates blocks in the area.

It can hurt you by exploding obviously but also it can regenerate blocks in the air if it explodes in the air. It also drops gunpowder just like the creeper. Lemme know what you think and thanks for checking this out!

[Combat] Bane of Arthropods change

As everyone knows, Bane of Arthropods is practically useless outside of modded scenarios as most arthropod mobs can usually be one-shot using the same weapon with sharpness, and only 2 being combat significant, being spiders and cave spiders. What I propose is changing the enchantment to "Bane of Invertebrates" instead. It would expand the range of mobs and make it much more useful. The new range of affected mobs (in addition to all arthropods) would include:

  1. Shulkers.

  2. Nautilus and its variants.

  3. Slimes, magma cubes, and sulfur cubes.

  4. Squids and glow squids.

  5. (Not sure about this one) Blazes and Breezes.

Several listed mobs are significantly more dangerous than spiders and cave spiders while also having more health, which would make the enchantment more useful in general while still keeping its specific, niche use case.

[Controls] Off Hand control scheme for touch screen (Minecraft Bedrock)

Thumbnail
gallery
92 Upvotes

We've seen a lot of demand for off hand parity for Minecraft bedrock. You've seen it. Yet, the question remains: how would you design an intuitive UX that doesn't disadvantage touch screen players during cross platforms plays?

Currently in Minecraft, tapping anywhere on the screen that isn't button or widgets always triggers main hand action. Changing main hand item with off hand isn't possible in bedrock either.

So here I am, proposing a UX-friendly off-hand control scheme for touchscreen players that could work seamlessly in vanilla Minecraft!

Starting off with two main Control Modes: Aim Crosshair and Tap Anywhere.

AIM CROSSHAIR

Aim Crosshair mode divides the gameplay screen into two interactable regions: one side for main hand action, the other is for off hand action. The regions are customizable via option menu.

To adjust the dividing border position, change the XY location of pivot point, and/or rotate the border up to 360°. This creates unique possibilites, such as the main hand region occupy a at the upper part of the screen, while the off hand region sits lower down slanted toward a corner.

The dividing border isn't locked to a 1:1 ratio. By adjusting the pivot, it is possible to create ratios like 2:3, 4:1, and so on. As a result, players can create their own designated off-hand regions that suits their each own preferences.

TAP ANYWHERE

By tapping two fingers at close proximity, the game will register them as one input that results in off hand action. This can be done anywhere in the screen.

The game detects off hand input is by registering 2 touches that are very close in distance. The approximate median of the two points will be where the trigger/game action happen; not either of the two point themselves.

OFF HAND SWAPPING

The off hand slot that appears on HUD recieves a new design. An arrow is peeking out to the direction of hotbar. This is to indicate that, to swap selected item with off hand's, player must swipe the off hand slot to the direction of hotbar. As it bumps, the two slots...drum roll please.....swap!

It is the F keybind equivalent for bedrock. So, swapping item with empty hand would work too, like in Java.

Note: Since the swiping movement can be done as snappy as pressing a key, I think this alone should justify to adding off hand parity to bedrock! This way, touch screen players with skilled hands still have the edge against controller players.

PRIORITY OPTIONS

Items Over Hands

(Prioritize item's function over used hand)

This option adds the following buttons: Attack/Mine, Place Block, and Otherwise. These buttons perform their respective actions, regardless of which hand holds the relevant item.

This means, tapping attack button makes the sword swing regardless of which hand holds it.

If both hands hold the same item of same use, for example two pickaxes, tapping the relevant button will prioritize use of item (pickaxe) in the main hand.

The Otherwise button is a use-case button that can be utilized as a last resort. Say, you have blocks in one hand and food in the other. The Attack button will let you hit stuff, Place Block will let you...place blocks, and the Otherwise button? It will let you eat food!

Items Over Hands lets players do actions without stressing over which hand hold which item every time they want to perform a basic action.

Hands Over Items

(Prioritize used hand over item function)

This option lets player use either hands at their own will, regardless of what items they're holding. Main hand button does action on items in main hand, off hand button does action on items in off hand. A very straightforward concept.

There is a drawback, however. Item used by hands are always locked to their primary function. For example, it is impossible to punch with book and quill in relevant hand, or destroying blocks when having a block in relevant hand. To dig and attack, player must hold the appropriate equipment on either hands, or hold something that doesn't have a practical function, such as stick.

~

And that's it for my idea today! Let me know if you're liking the control scheme I established here. Do you think it'd play clunky yo swap items by swiping a slot? What about the priority options? I'd love to hear your thoughts about my overall idea!

[AI Behavior] Phantoms should have a second attack mode

Currently, the only attack they have is a divebomb, which isn't that bad(on java edition), the problem i have with it is that since they're always out of melee reach, players that aren't good at using bows will struggle to fight them, my solution to this is a new attack mode where they fly closer to the ground and try to bite you, this can be countered by using a shield, which stuns them for 3 seconds, after a while they'll go back to divebombing, constructive criticism for this idea is appreciated, thanks for reading!

[Blocks & Items] wall & fence rework!!!

Thumbnail
gallery
82 Upvotes

Walls & fences in minecraft are a very fun blocks to build with due to their ability to connect to things by changing shape, and their unique property of being visualy 1 block tall but having a 1.5 block hitbox, however they sadly also have some flaws and inconsistantcies.

Namely the lack of an ability to control what they connect to, and the fact they do not connect to leaves, melons, and other plant blocks, and the fact that whether a block has a wall a fence or both isnt very logical; Eg nether brick having fences that dont connect to over fences as well as walls and red nether brick only having walls.

I suggest that to fix these problems, walls & fences would now be able to connect to all blocks including partial blocks, by adding the correct amount of pixels to the connection piece to connect to the furthest from center pixel of a given blocks face.

Their connections would also now be removable by clicking on them with an axe for wooden fences and walls and a pickaxe for stone ones.

All blocks with stairs & or slabs would also now have both walls & fences and the fence recipe would be changed to distinguish it from walls were needed.

Ps: i welcome feedback and will try to reply to all comments : D

Edit: walls would also now connect diagonally.

[Terrain] End-Centered Drop Idea

Thumbnail
gallery
311 Upvotes

(Custom blocks are from the Better on Bedrock Addon.)

While an End update is very unlikely, at least in the near future, I have an idea for what we could possibly expect. The overworld has trees, the nether has mushrooms, and the end already has "flower" plants. I think the End Dimension should get a few flower biomes that spawn every now and then. The end will remain mostly barren.

Flower Forest

Expanding on the chorus flowers, there will now be a new biome that is sparsely located throughout the end called the flower forest, which features large tree-sized flowers. Flower design in image 2. This could add a new chorus wood set, which would be purple. Currently, the closest thing we have to purple wood is crimson, but that is more of a purple-red. There are also smaller flowers in the biome that generate on the floor. These can be turned into purple dye, as that is the only color that is unobtainable via plants. There will also be chorus blocks and flower blocks that generate in the big flowers.

Flower Fields

This biome will be light bluish teal and instead of featuring giant flowers, it has lots of small diverse flowers. For example, a spiky and bright flower that actually gives off light, even in flower pots. It can be used to make glow dye, which has the same function as glow ink sacs but an alternative way to get them. Normal ink sacs can be turned into black dye, glow ink sacs into glow dye.

This definitely could use some improvements, but what do you think?

[AI Behavior] Villager census

Managing a village can involve a lot of numbers.

What if the villagers could keep count for you?

Suppose whenever a librarian villager claims a lecture with an empty book on it, that book became a Census Book, containing the number of villagers, beds, work stations, golems, fear levels, food supply, etc.

This would be a neat immersion tool allowing players to watch their population grow and identify issues easily.

[Blocks & Items] Netherstar Furnace

A furnace type made from a netherstar, some obsidian, and some quartz or netherack.

It would function like the base furnace, but would not require fuel. The drawback would be that it would cook stuff 2x slower.

This furnace would be good for factories or farms but not for a personal furnace. And it would make getting multiple netherstars nice but not mandatory. And due to being slower than a base furnace, it wouldn't overshadow them.

[Gameplay] Freezing potions should defuse creepers and sulfur cubes with TNT

I think this is pretty logical. While frozen, these entities wouldn't be able to light their gunpowder on fire in order to explode. This mechanic would give players more control on creepers, which contributes to Mojang's game design philosophy.

[Blocks & Items] Leatherworkers should ignore lava cauldrons.

Just what the title says. It's annoying enough when your personal use cauldrons start attracting leatherworkers, but somehow it's even more egregious when they start being birthed and loitering because of nearby lava cauldrons. They can't possibly dye anything in lava/java. Maybe this could be applied to snow filled cauldrons as well.

This isn't a comprehensive solution to anything just tiny step in the right direction.

[Blocks & Items] Reinforced blocks

Using amethyst shards you can reinforce blocks in an anvil. Stuff that usually breaks a block like mining or TnT will just "crack" the block. The crack level is 0 and every time you "break" it the crack level increases by 1. At level 11 the block becomes affected by gravity, and at 12 it actually breaks the block. Every 5 seconds the crack level decreases until the block is "healed" aka reached level 0. Obsidian and crying Obsidian cannot be reinforced and reinforced variants of blocks don't appear in the creative inventory.

Why? Well now days you either have servers with no griefing which are boring or you have servers that allow griefing but a build that took 3 hours to build can be destroyed in 5 minutes and defending a build is close to impossible. This suggestion should let you still grief while making it more fair.

If you have other ideas let me know them in the comments!

[Blocks & Items] Underground maps crafted w/ recovery compass

Adds an extra use to the recovery compass. It only pictures the blocks at the y-level you were on when you right clicked/used it, and below. Crafted with the recovery compass like how a normal map is crafted with a normal compass, but this would make it naturally rarer. Though it would not tie in to the 'recovery' feature/name much..

[Blocks & Items] Composite Bow - a late-game bow upgrade

Post image

Here's my idea for a Composite Bow, quite a simple bow upgrade. More durability, damage and being fireproof at the cost of a longer drawing time.

Currently, arrow damage depends on its speed, inaccuracy is created in-game by adding a small random velocity to the arrow, and faster arrows simply fly further before drag stops them. That's how just increasing projectile velocity positively impacts all three.

Why nerfing Power? Max damage of this bow could potentially exceed 35 hp per shot, and it seems a bit high. This would nerf the regular bow too, but why can a stick and a string get up to 20 damage from a single enchant in the first place? Melee users need diamond weapons AND sharpness 5/strength 2 to get it this high.

On the subject of materials: this nightmare of a recipe makes sense. Bamboo is a very good material for the backing of a bow (the outer part) irl. Horn is a very good material for the belly of the bow (the inner part) irl. Netherite does not exist irl, so don't worry about it. A Sift string could cause the bow to play notes when pulled, like a string instrument. That is not necessary however, and can be swapped for regular string, but it would be cool. All in all, this weapon would require a trip between biomes and dimensions to create.

Netherite also makes the bow immune to fire and lava, to match netherite-tier tools. It also can't be used as furnace fuel anymore.

An open question: should we also have a crossbow upgrade like that? I also thought about more arrow types, but I may suggest that another day.

[Mobs] Frozen bat

This image is from the minecraft live. The bat is only white due to the lighting (it was black before entering the light can also sortof see another black bat to the side) but it made think what if add it officially. it would be just a white variant of the bat and would not be anything huge but i think it would make the biom that much nicer and the bat would fit in better. plus because its fairly simple it shouldn't get in the way of adding the more fun features.

And for anyone who understandably hates bats they are already planning add bats to this biome so might as well make them nicer.(personally i like bats i just understand why others dont)
