Season 13 - Houston Johnny’s new girlfriend?

From his IG account it looks like he’s dating somebody…anybody can change but I hope that she’s done her research because he was straight trash on MAFS. Literally seemed like he was throwing a tantrum for 8 straight weeks because he wasn’t matched with some hot, young, submissive wife. Dude clearly had issues and was not ready to be in a serious relationship, let alone marriage.

Season 13 - Houston What happened to couples staying in the apartment? Also, Michaela…..oh my

I’m a first time watcher (watching on Hulu) and I’m on season 13. I noticed that during the COVID season (season 11) and current season, the couples are leaving the apartment a lot more to got stay a night or several, in their own home.

I remember Matt doing this in earlier seasons and he was harshly reprimanded by pastor Cal and Dr. pepper (rightfully so). But now it’s like everyone leaves at will and that marriage boundary or couples staying in the home is gone? Idk, does someone have insight? For some reasons, Hulu is missing season 10 and 12 so idk.

Also, I fully see how Zach may have been seeing someone else why married to Michaela, but I’m sorry.. Michaela is committable. The petty “I’m moving out just to move back in” every 10 business days and knee jerk reactions were already silly, but her flipping out and destroying things that way she did is terrible.

Once you get that level of violence and lack ability to control yourself, you need not to be married. If a partner did that, I would truly be scared that the next time won’t be furniture, but me instead. I questioned whether Zach had some funny business going on by how regularly he was not staying in their shared apartment (now confirmed) but unfortunately Michaela’s severe lack of composure made him/the cheater out to be a saint. I also saw a clip where she inserted herself into his segment during the reunion forcibly (showing again some lack of self control) and no one stopped her.

Season 13 - Houston Just finished season 13 and am honestly so shocked

After watching all the seasons before, I started really thinking they were pairing people for shock value and to create drama on the show.

Especially when you have people like lying michael from season 10 or that crazy guy from 12. Like clearly they didn’t vett these people enough.

At the start of this season I was feeling the opposite. Like, it really seemed like they weren’t doing that anymore and all of these people seemed really level headed and actually good people.

But then it started to unfold and I’m like, how did this still go so off the rails?! What was the issue here?

Season 13 - Houston The producers are worst than Alyssa.

I really feel like the producers have been unnecessarily unkind to Chris in the edits of the past couple ‘sodes. The shots of him throwing the frisbee, the shots from below of him smiling AT HIS OWN WEDDING :/ and pretty much every shot of him moving around were sort of cruel. Like they weren’t “recaps” of him doing something extra (like with michaela) or reacting but just generally not done with kindness in mind.

I don’t like Chris much in a friendly way, but even when my boyfriend walked by and was like “awwww” in response to Chris overall, he just comes across like someone being bullied. The producers have embarrassed/shamed Chris more than Alyssa has… With other not so attractive contestants they didn’t do them dirty like that as well, did they?

Edit: worse than* woke up this AM to this infuriating grammar mistake!

Season 13 - Houston Johnny Hurling Expletives at Bao

Always thought his abuse was on an emotional & mental level but after MAFS showed that behind-the-scenes clip of him going off by himself in the room, hurling non-stop expletives at Bao, it was like a pressure cooker going off. And people like that are capable of getting physical as well because they can't control themselves. That guy is so scary.

**Update: I caught the clip during the Season 14 Kickoff to Boston episode and assumed it was behind-the-scenes clip but it was a throwback to what was shown during the regular season. There were some discussions on what was going on behind the scenes (Bao saying again there is no other version of her that the audience is not seeing) and then afterwards a few clips were played.

Season 13 - Houston Season 13 - How did the 'experts' miss Jose's controlling personality?

I don't understand how supposed experts - 3 of them! - could have missed during interviews and screening that Jose had a controlling personality? I saw it in the first episode! Why would they put Rachel in such a situation. Very dangerous. I personally would not be entrusting my emotional wellbeing to these 'experts'. I feel worried for people who go on this programme.

Season 13 - Houston Myrla needs to be single…

I just finished MAFS szn 13 and I cannot stand Myrla. I was reading a lot of posts about her and a lot of women who don’t like her bring up her financial situation and her spending habits. My thing is if you got it you got it so I’m not gonna hate on another woman for being successful. With that being said I don’t believe Myrla wanted to go on the show to have a shot at love I think she went on because she felt like she was on a time crunch with wanting the white picket fence dream. Gil said it best at one point by calling her out and saying she just likes the idea of marriage. Myrla is the most negative person I’ve seen on a reality tv show, she constantly complains and never seems grateful for the experiences on the show. I would expect Myrla to be as humble as Gil considering she grew up underprivileged but she’s the complete opposite. I’m not saying she doesn’t deserve the finer things in life but I find it weird that she would complain about things that she wasn’t able to experience as a child. Also I hated the fact that she always told gil that she liked him so much and she wanted to spend her life with him and have kids a house and all the above but when I came to the reunion she was so cold hearted and rude. How do you change the way you feel in 2 weeks after saying you’re “choosing” to love him? I think Myrla needs to be single because if Gil checked off all of her boxes and then some and she STILL left him, unfortunately I don’t feel anybody else will be able to fill that role for her.

Season 13 - Houston WTH Johnny?!?

What is this guys problem? He is the absolute worst this season. If Bao isn't right for you - fine. But he is so unnecessarily mean. "I would rather be paired with anyone other than you" and so forth. Lying about going to the bbq with his family - saying he didn't want them to get attached, when it is quite clear that he just did not want her there and wanted to have free reign to shit on her to his family for an afternoon. I can't even figure out what it is that she is allegedly doing that is so offensive. It seems like his complaints are more about making her feel insecure than they are about resolving any issues.

He seems incredibly toxic. She may giggle or be awkward sometimes - but so what. I don't get the sense that she is unable to be serious - she is educated and accomplished, which would suggest that she is mature about managing herself.

Season 13 - Houston IMO Jose locking Rachel out was deliberate

Title-

I think he expected she would cry and submit and beg for him back and she'd take full responsibility for his fucked behavior earlier in the night that led up to the lockening, instead of demanding a good apology.

The only way he could move forward after being a controlling, vindictive prick was to pretend it was "an accident" and some bullshit about how he "secures his property", his property, AKA their shared apartment, like this stupid 2/2 was somehow more important to keep safe than his wife.

Season 13 - Houston Kinda wish Gil was in this season to call Alyssa out, respectfully

There was never a pot Gil wasn’t afraid to stir and I feel like no one in the cast is speaking outright to Alyssa, which just feeds her narcissistic tendencies. With her being unchecked and she feels validated… I feel like Gil would nicely call her out on her BS and support Chris more publicly.

Kept feeling like I knew this guy from somewhere and realized he was from the Houston season! Last I heard, he was dating another cast member (Bao). Totally forgotten most of the tea from that season.

I'm not very far into the season, but geez. Imagine complaining about a free vacation.

Also, side note, if Bao and Johnny break up, I will riot.

Season 13 - Houston It's really painful seeing the producers keep these people in terrible, toxic relationships

Are all the seasons this way? Basically all the couples were so bad together... Zack and Michaela were the worst in my opinion, it was painful to watch, they all seemed like they were in agony. It just seams cruel the producers wont let them leave, they have to keep doing things together and try to make it work. Are all the seasons after 13 this way?

Season 13 - Houston Michaela!?

Okay I know I’m late to this party but Micheala’s actions this season paint her as such a liar and manipulator. Especially in her meeting with Zack and Dr Pepper. I’m so shocked by the words coming out of her mouth! Anyone else have such a jaw on the floor reaction to this counseling session?? Like wtf!

Season 13 - Houston S13 - Johnny is the real villian. Spoiler

I have only recently discovered Married at First Sight. I have been binging episodes and watcing some seasons back to back. I have not seen the first 7 seasons, but thus far, Johnny from S13 is one of the worst on the show. I can't stand watching him and the way he treats Bao! Going behind her back and talking to her friend now... also what a terrible friend! I feel for Bao WTF.

Update: just watched the reunion and the where are they now update and WTF he gets even worse. But also have some thoughts and feelings about what happened to some of the other couples! Myrla!? Dang.

PS - any Canadians in this sub who know how I can watch seasons 1-8?

Season 13 - Houston Why does Michaela s13 get a pass but Zach doesn't?

I'll be honest, I didn't like Michaela**. I have a big problem with people who cannot control their anger and who in general are very reactionary. It is so incredibly off-putting to me. And for anger to be so out of control that it translates to you violently flipping whole benches over... That's a major red flag to me. I was genuinely terrified just watching the playback video, and if I had a partner who did even 1/4 of that, I'd be long gone.

People say Zach was gaslighting Michaela or leading her on, but I honestly cannot imagine any amount of "leading her on" that could justify that kind of behavior. Apparently there is a video where Michaela explained her side and this is where the gaslighting allegations come from (I purposefully avoid gossip blogs so idk anything beyond what I've seen posted on here, so I admit I'm out of the loop here). I'm not saying she's right or wrong, but don't you think that her side is obviously going to be...biased...towards her? But even if it's true, if the choice is between a playboy giving mixed signals and a woman with a terrifying, violent anger, it's kind of clear which one is worse to me. And yet the latter gets a pass but the former is on several people's MAFS list of worst spouses? And you know I didn't even like Zach in the beginning either, but now here y'all are making me defend him.

** I really hesitate when talking about people on reality TV, bc they are actual real people. And we don't actually know them in real life. So I acknowledge that I only know how they have been presented to me on TV, not who they really are.

Season 13 - Houston Are the experts actually experts?

This is the second season I’m watching and I feel like Pastor Cal and Dr Pepper sometimes give very questionable advice. It seems sometimes they’re overly invested and not as objective as they should be. They also sometimes just give bad advice. Why encourage sex before ppl who are strangers are ready? Why encourage people to reconcile in clearly toxic/bad situations? I guess for tv but it’s like….

Season 13 - Houston Jose, the Mouth Licking Narcissist

I had a hard time watching Jose. At the ceremony, that creepy smile and his frequent mouth licking was literally making me sick. I know he had dry lips, but...ew, too much.

His narcissism is off the charts. He acts like he's the first person to put together a budget and use a whiteboard. How many times are you going to announce what your credit score is and brag about how successful your are? We get it, you're proud, but humility is much more attractive. He's the poster child of a kid being coddled and told he's special every day of his life.

Season 13 - Houston Season 13 men suck Spoiler

What was up with them picking such shitty, abusive or emotionally damaged men for season 13? The only good one was Gil, Zack was barely okay. Ryan gave up right away and Johnny was borderline abusive to Bao verbally and emotionally. Jose just gave me bad vibes and abusive ones when he treated Rachel like shit over calling him Johnny and locked her out. Definitely unstable. I mean, come on.
