Looking for Household & Admin Help

My partner and I recently relocated to HRM for work and things have been BUSY, so I’ve decided to outsource some tasks to help make life a little easier.

I’m hoping to find someone to help with a mix of cleaning and organizing our space, basic meal/grocery prep (no cooking), some paperwork, calls and light admin, occasional household or personal projects, and other random tasks as they come up.
It would be casual and super flexible with a few hours here and there, so it would be good for someone looking for some side income, a student, a retiree, or just anyone who enjoys this type of work.

I’m open to discussing hourly, daily, or per task pay, and willing to help with transportation if needed depending on the day and location.
I would just need someone who is comfortable using everyday tech like computers, iphones, and printers, and you would need to like cats because mine runs the house. Above all, personality matters most. We’re a very easy going and fun couple in our 30s, so finding someone we’re comfortable with who is equally comfortable with my organized chaos is most important 😅

If this sounds like something you’d be interested in or know of someone who would be, please reach out

UPDATE: I’ve had a few responses so far and at this point I should be able to find someone from those who have contacted me. Appreciate the interest!! :)

Is it really that bad??

I’ve been applying to admin/entry level jobs since June and either getting rejected or not hearing back at all. I am a SAHM with a comp sci degree and I started my own small business selling jewelry to help out and like….I’m so confused is it me or is the job market that bad? Any advice or tips or leads or anything are welcome!

Plastic Model builder

Had some luck in the past finding a model builder on reddit, thought I'd see if anyone here with some skill at the hobby would be interested in building to completion a couple of AMT Star Trek models for a little extra income. I just don't have the time, and they've been sitting unmade. The person who did my last one did a great job, but are busy until the new year. If you think you might be interested let me know 🙂

Need some advice finding an RN job in Halifax

Hi everyone!

My wife has a valid and active RN licence in Nova Scotia and has been applying for RN jobs for over 4 months now, but unfortunately, she hasn’t received a single interview yet.

She has an MScN in Nursing and previous nursing experience from India. We’ve also updated her resume a couple of times and made it ATS friendly, but still no luck.

She’s mainly looking for opportunities in Halifax, Dartmouth, Bedford, or nearby areas.

Just wondering if anyone here has been through something similar or has any advice on how to actually get your foot in the door.

Are there any employment agencies or recruiters in Halifax that help RNs find jobs?

Any tips, suggestions, or personal experiences would be really appreciated. We’re just trying to figure out what we might be missing.

Thanks in advance!

Embedded Software Engineer with 8+ years of experience

I am an embedded software engineer with 8+ years of experience and recently moved to Halifax. I understand the market is very weak here in my field however, I am looking to connect with founders, entrepreneurs and other related professionals for any opportunities either full-time or part-time.

I work closely with hardware in low-level software such as drivers, device trees and subsystems for RTOS and Linux environments. Additionally, I have working experience in application development in C, C++, Python and Bash in codebases involving CMake and Make ecosystems.

Lastly, I can build a custom Linux operating system with yocto and buildroot adding custom packages and automate the entire workflows with Jenkins, Docker and scripting.

If you’re a startup or business in Nova Scotia that needs help solving hardware and embedded systems challenges, please connect with me.

You can reach me at [abhijith.uwc.rw@gmail.com](mailto:abhijith.uwc.rw@gmail.com).

Callout to Servers/FOH - genuinely good places to work?

Looking for some recommendations from people actually working in the service industry.

I’ve found myself in a bit of a transitional period career-wise. I’ve spent much of my career working in marketing, e-commerce and small business development… but find myself in and out of the service industry when I’m between roles (prone to corporate burnout).

I’m currently serving and working MOD shifts, with experience across full-service restaurants, gastropubs, breweries, high-volume service, private events and buyouts.

Even knowing a lot of people in hospitality, I’ve found it surprisingly difficult to get a genuine “yes, this is actually a good place to work” recommendation.
I’m really looking for somewhere that’s organized, consistent and professionally run (does this exist anymore??)

Transparent/fair tip practices, realistic staffing and workload, good communication, and management that values and retains good staff.

I’m not looking for fine dining or anything overly formal. A busy, food-focused restaurant, or gastropub on the peninsula is my sweet spot.

If you currently work somewhere you’d recommend - or know a solid place that might be quietly looking for an experienced server I’d love to know! Happy to send my resume privately.

Also open to hearing about marketing/e-commerce/business development opportunities if something happens to come to mind, as that’s where much of my professional background is.

Northwood job listings

Looking for part time work, and I'm noticing a lot of positions open at Northwood for temporary kitchen hands and the like, and they are asking for these Kitchen Hands and Cook's Assistants to be experienced Red Seal Journeyman cooks, and mandatory +1 year experience in long term care, amoung other mandatory qualifications. Most of the jobs are temporary.

I'm wondering why Northwood would set such unrealistic qualifications, as it seems any such experienced person would never work for the advertised wages.

I wonder what they will do when they can't find people to fill them.

Would you rent out things you barely use for extra cash?

I’m building a Halifax-based peer-to-peer rental marketplace called Rentrio.

The idea is pretty simple: instead of buying something you only need once in a while, you can rent it from someone nearby. Things like camping gear, tools, prom dresses, sports equipment, cameras, party gear, and similar items.

I’ve already listed a few pieces of my own gear that I don’t use much, so people can try renting directly from me too.

If the thing you need isn’t listed yet, there’s also a Wanted section where you can post what you’re looking for, your dates, and your budget. Someone who owns it can respond.

I’m still in the early launch stage, so right now I’m mainly looking for feedback and the first group of Halifax people who might be willing to list useful things they already own.

I know theft/damage is one of the obvious concerns. I’m building in phone verification, pickup/return confirmation, condition photos, and a deposit/authorization system so owners have more protection than a normal classifieds handoff.

I’m curious:

What do you own that you’d realistically consider renting out?
Or what’s something you wish you could rent locally instead of buying?

If anyone wants to try, it’s rentrio.ca.

City Planning Job

Hi everyone!

I’m finishing my undergrad degree at u of Manitoba. I’m planning on doing a masters here in Winnipeg and potentially moving out to Halifax.

How’s the job market?

Are government jobs easier to come by?

If anyone could let me know that’d be awesome!

Has anyone here from Ontario landed a job with HRM or the province?

I'm a municipal worker in Ontario looking to move to Halifax. Both the city (HRM) and province have transfer agreements which would be my best option to land work there and continue my career.

Just curious if anyone has went through a similar process?

EDIT: OMERS (Ontario pension plan) and HRM have a transfer agreement for their pension plan. Hence why I am really banking on an HRM job.
