MOD STUFF Rule Changes & Rule Additions for AI Content

Hello all,

We hope you are all doing well. We made a few updates to the subreddit rules. Most of these are no change to how the subreddit is currently moderated.

For rules #1 and #2 we combined those both into the same rule. Both had to do with illegal streaming, one was just for full episodes and the other for promos.

The rules about relevance and unrelated memes have now been combined. These both overlap quite a bit. We still know Ellen on was on Friends, please don't remind us. This rule will be more of a catch all for posts like that as well as any type of low-effort one word type posts, or just spam and blatant reposting.

The rule about initial airing has been removed. This was put in when CTV in Canada aired their episode a full day before the US. This is no longer the case, so the rule isn't really needed anymore.

We also removed the ban evasion rule. This was a non-starter rule anyway. If someone does this we will handle it with reddit admin staff.

Lastly, we have added one rule. No AI Generated Content or "AI Slop" as it's commonly called. This includes any AI-generated images, videos, music, or text. When it comes to text, moderators will exercise certain discretion when using tools for spelling, grammar, translation, or clarity, but posts that are largely AI-generated, spam-like, or what is obviously AI slop text will be removed.

Again, most of this is cleanup rather than a major shift in moderation. The goal is to make the rules clearer, easier to enforce, and more in line with how the subreddit is actually used now.

Please see the rules section of the subreddit if you have any questions or message the moderators. Your order may have changed :P

Thank you for your time! -Sork

DISCUSSION PRIME “The writers F’d this up”

Post image
359 Upvotes

The way this is one of the best bonds in the entire show. Right up there with Slexie and Jolex for me. They were GENUINELY FRIENDS for so long before falling in love and even after. But man, I’m in about s14 of my rewatch and I think they still have feelings for each other and should’ve gotten back together!!!!!! It actually makes no sense. They seemed to be building up to that so beautifully and then just get on this Jaggie runaway train car which I have something to say about. When Jackson tells her & Harriet to stay, the CARE between these characters is so palpable thru this entire plotline and Jackson and Maggie just do not have that let alone the slightest of sparks. April is also there when he meets his father!! Soulmate shit!!😭

Ok now time to address it.. 🐘. I remember watching as S14 came out on a weekly basis in HS and everyone thought Jaggie was weird… now I’m an adult and I THINK ITS EXTRA WEIRD. THEY ARE BROTHER AND SISTER!!! What’s even weirder, is how the show consistently tries to force you to be on board with this borderline *ncestual ship with the transparent tactic of a Go Girl patient telling Maggie Yaass get that D. UR STEPBROTHERS D… But furthermore as if that wasn’t an issue and cause for nausea, I feel like the writers FORGOT his role in Maggie’s Mom’s death which CONTINUES to have a huge effect on her even to where we are now in the show?? I know technically it isn’t his fault but SHE blamed him! Now she’s dating him? I’m pretty sure even Kelly Mcreary said ts was weird 😭
Anyways man they should’ve gotten back together after Montana 💖💔😕

EDIT- I should tell you before you write that paragraph, I’m already at my limit of hearing brother dating sister excuses ☺️ It’s gross. No matter how you spin it, weirdo..

The way you guys are so eager to defend incest being passed off as normal to us by writers is CRAZY.
Apparently, dating your brother is woke.

SPOILERS Saddest patient story

Post image

I’m not sure if this has been discussed before, but I find Veronica to be one of the saddest patient stories. I’m on another rewatch and her declining surgery and dying makes me cry every time. Not to mention how her & her baby daddy were actually in love with each other. Who do you guys think are the saddest patients?

Addie was very impressed by Izzie. I would have loved that specific duo.

Which two characters would you choose?

EPISODE DISCUSSION Rewatching with my bestie. What is the worst episode, and why is it unequivocally the musical one?

I've never watched it, when Callie started singing and dancing, it made me unreasonably angry. Even thinking about it is making me a little ragey.

DISCUSSION Theory: The writers are trying to make Amelia disliked again, so that we don't favor her/miss her in any way more Meredith

Post image
48 Upvotes

For those of you who have watched Private Practice and followed Amelia since or even before her brain tumor storyline.

Has anyone noticed how the writers keep bringing Amelia back to her old, impulsive characterization while Meredith increasingly gets portrayed as mature, noble, and emotionally evolved?

Look at the recent seasons.

After Meredith, Maggie, and Kai leave, Amelia spirals and lashes out at Winston and Yasuda. Following the hospital explosion, she's overwhelmed by guilt and takes a sabbatical. Then, just when her relationship with Toni looks promising, she assumes she's being rejected and sleeps with Cass. Toni shows up ready to commit, and Amelia looks reckless all over again.

Now compare Meredith.

When Meredith and Amelia challenge Catherine over their Alzheimer's research, Meredith gets the defining moment of professional courage. When Meredith struggles with commitment to Nick, the writers let her overcome that fear and propose marriage.

Both women struggle with insecurity and abandonment. Yet Meredith's mistakes become opportunities for growth, while Amelia's become evidence that she still hasn't matured.

And that's what bothers me. Amelia already went through addiction, unimaginable loss, recovery, and years of character development on Private Practice. Even her brain tumor storyline supposedly offered a turning point.

I'm not suggesting Amelia shouldn't have flaws or sexual relationships. I'm questioning why the writers repeatedly make her look impulsive, sexually reckless, or emotionally unreliable when they've already established that she's capable of much more.

Here's my theory: Even with Meredith appearing less frequently, the writers are maintaining her status as the show's emotional and moral center by repeatedly making Amelia look like the less mature Shepherd...again...

Meredith gets to evolve. Amelia keeps getting reset or watered down into a muddy puddle .

Is this simply repetitive writing, or does anyone else think the contrast is becoming too consistent to ignore?

DISCUSSION Mer and Deluca - I'm frustrated

The more the relationship builds between Meredith and Deluca, the more frustrated I become with how they ended it. I think, honestly, I'm more frustrated with how the writers treated Deluca than what they did to Derek. With Derek it was more understandable. The actor had been on the show for a long time, many storylines were already exhausted, Derek and Meredith had already built quite the life together, their relationship was at a rocky point when he died. And then there was thorough and extensive grieving and recovery from Meredith afterwards.

She finally got to a place where she could love someone again. Deluca made her happy. And they just took all that away. I don't really like Hayes and bringing Nick back YEARS later is so random. I'm frustrated and I have a lot of feelings about this. I'm sure plenty of people disagree but I just feel like Meredith and Andrew were a good fit and there was so much storytelling potential between the two. Deluca had so much growing to do and Meredith needed that spark of youth and discovery in her life.

HIS DEATH WAS PREVENTABLE!!!!!!

one of the few characters in the show whose death is purely preventable

How hard was it for all of them to fricking do a background check?

i know andrew was a bit erratic at this point but come on a quick discussion a quick background check would've saved him

like andrew goes to bailey, bailey pissed off at the sight of erratic deluca but she listen and talk about background checking her in a silent yet aggresive manner

Spoilers Want to watch again (opinion with spoilers) Spoiler

I have to be honest I stopped watching the show after Derek died. I just couldn’t handle the pain in Meredith’s and Amelia’s face. It was one of the most painful scenes I watched on a tv show.

A few months I watched a scene on YouTube of Meredith and her new love (not sure if they are already married) and he seems like a nice guy and made me want to watch the show again but I can’t go through season 11 without feeling pain and crying.

How did you guys handle it? 😭

DISCUSSION Update: My friend who watched Private Practice before Grey's Anatomy has ranked the characters AND ships through S9 😭❤️ Spoiler

A little while ago, I posted about my friend who watched Private Practice before Grey's Anatomy, initially hated Lexie because Mark went back to Seattle for her, and then ended up making Lexie her favourite female character and Slexie her favourite ship. 😭❤️

Here's my original post: https://www.reddit.com/r/greysanatomy/s/ZxaC0qLp4i

Well, she's now reached the Season 9 finale, and I made her rank the characters and ships based on what she's watched so far. Here are her rankings, her reasoning, and my comments on each one! 😂

Female character ranking

  1. Lexie — “She is the best, change my mind.”

I cannot argue with that.

  1. Cristina — “It should've been Yang's Anatomy.”

Can't argue with that either. Cristina is our queen forever.

  1. Izzie — “Don't care what she did, i love her.”

We agree on this, i consider Izzie criminally overhated.

  1. Addison — “An icon ✨✨✨”

Not arguing with this at all. We both pretend Addison in Private Practice doesn't exist.

  1. Callie — “Latina baddie.”

She is right. We have had endless arguments about Callie because i don't love her as much but... the woman is a baddie, i can't deny that.

  1. April — “Getting better. A lot better.”

I agree with this, i tell her she is going to be very satisfied with April's development.

  1. Teddy — “Funny, pretty, hated her with Mark.”

Agreed completely. Her and Mark were cute but my and hers Slexie heart were breaking. I know something about Teddy she doesn't and she is nagging me to learn.

  1. Bailey — “Used to be a queen, her attitude towards the plane crash victims is infuriating.”

Agreed on everything. And as someone who loves both early and later Bailey, she hasn't watched the worst part yet.

  1. Meredith — “Selfish. Can't stand her.”

Our biggest source of arguement.

  1. Arizona — “Whiny, infuriating.”

Another big source of arguement. I love Arizona. And i am scared her hatred for it is going to get a lot worse.

  1. Heather — “Cute. Funny. Hate the new interns.”

I loved Heather. She was my favourite of the new ones and she didn't have anything to argue back. Ha!!!

  1. Stephanie — “Seems like a new Cristina. Interesting.”

Agreed. I can't tell her she is my new favourite without making a spoiler.

  1. Jo — “Whiny. Too whiny. If Alex and her get together I am quitting the show.”

Told her she is my most decisive character. And there is something else that if i tell her she is going to kill me.

  1. Leah — “Infuriating and annoying.”

We agree. And i warned her it's going to get worse.

  1. Erica Hahn — “Hate her.”

Her most reasonable opinion.

Ship ranking

  1. Slexie — “The best on Grey's.”

I am never arguing with this.

  1. Izzex — “Hope Izzie comes back.”

I definitely agree with this. And i know something she doesn't.

  1. Burketina — “Wasted potential.”

Definitely agree with this.

  1. Japril — “Great potential. They kept me at the show since Slexie ended.”

Heavy on this. I loved them too. I told her to be prepared. For heartbreak.

  1. Calzona — “Cute.”

I was really surprised she put them that high considering her hatred for Arizona. But what can i say? At least she likes them like i do.

  1. Addek — “So great chemistry. They were eachother's family.”

The fact that she prefers them to MerDer is killing me.

  1. Crowen — “Loved them at first. Toxic then. Hate them now.”

Heavy on hate them.

  1. Callie and George — “Eww.”

My exact reaction.

  1. Izzie and George — “Even more eww.”

Heavy on this.

  1. MerDer — “Toxic. Hate them.”

She had MerDer at number 10. I have no words. I can't change her mind unfortunately

Honestly, we agree on quite a few things, but Meredith and Arizona are two of our biggest sources of arguments. And the fact that she put Arizona at #10 but Calzona at #5 is still so funny to me.

But nothing beats the fact that she went from hating Lexie before she even knew her to making Lexie her favourite female character and Slexie her favourite ship. I will never get over that. ❤️

Which of her rankings do you agree or disagree with the most? And what do you think about her putting Arizona at #10 but Calzona at #5?

Please no spoilers beyond Season 9! ❤️

DISCUSSION Season 23 is just over 48 hours away… whose character will they destroy this season?

I have a feeling it’s going to be Link. I like Link, he comes across as a genuinely “good guy”… personally, I’d like them to leave him alone… but after watching the trailer, I think this is going to be the year they don’t just put a “chink” in his “good guy armor”… but they tear off all the armor altogether.

What do you guys think? Any predictions?

DISCUSSION Christina Yang

Thumbnail reddit.com
7 Upvotes

The is kind of a vent, but if I could be anyone in the universe, no matter of gender, sexuality or what they did. It would be Christina yang.

Her complex personality, intelligence is just… appealing to me. She is just amazing. I don’t get why others hate her.

Christina Yang is the antagonist, she is literally the person who’d be the protagonist if Meredith grey wasn’t a character. If anything—Christina Yang is the main character. That how much I like that character.

She is the only character that shows any real emotions, that are just… real? If that makes sense.

Just like how @Codeverity (link above) said, “It's so very rare that we get a character like her - a woman like her.”

Christina yang is a character that, I personally, would love to be in any dimension. A character so unique that I believe she is just amazing.

What are your thoughts about Christina yang? And do you agree with me? Like I can’t be the only one…

DISCUSSION S14E24 - Arizona, Callie and Penny

I love that no matter how many times I watch Grey's, I always pick up on something new that I didn't catch before.

I always pictured that Callie and Penny stayed together, they are raising Sofia and have split custody with Arizona. It was rough at first but now they have an amazing co-parenting arrangement. They all have become really good friends, hang out together, put Sofia first in everything.

Well in S14 E24 - Arizona is talking about Callie and she says "I'm single, she's single"

I had to rewind three times to make sure I heard that right.

Makes me a bit sad that Callie moved all the way across the country and didn't even make it a year with Penny before they broke up. It now makes me wonder if Callie and Arizona eventually get back together.

Trying to remember if when Arizona made a guest visit if this was addressed.

DISCUSSION Do you consider the show to be an ensemble show?

I've always considered Grey's Anatomy to be an ensemble show rather than tied down to any one character (part of the reason why I still watch it), but I wonder if its the same along the rest of the fandom, if they see it as the same or would they see it as the MerDer show or the Cristina Yang show (for thsoe who only watch the earlier seasons). So what do you guys think?
