Was scrolling and saw another one of "Friendly reminder: Khans aren't people". You know the type, it doesn't have to be about Khans.
So as a young person, I'm curious if this is a recent development, or 90s gamers were also insane and took fictional worlds as reasons to project their real world hatred and squabbles? Like were there constant arguments about say Enclave or NCR back then with two sides ready to kill each other and send to real life concentration camps because Tandi or Richardson?
I don't know, it just feels really weird way of gaming for me. Or enjoying fiction in general. I'm not saying, obviously, that fiction doesn't or can't have messages, but unless specifically stated so, the best fiction is often talking about broader, more global themes, or on the contrary, more personal, intimate and soul-related. But then some dudes and duderines come in and start spitting around screaming "FALLOUT IS LITERALLY ANTI-CAPITALIST PROPAGANDA AND YOU HAVE TO BE A TOTAL TO NOT SEE THAT!!!!!!!".
So was the world always just a soviet poster under different sauces, or people went mad at some point and became exactly the thing they were trying to avoid for so long?
This is a post for people in their 40s and above I guess : ) But everyone's opinions are still welcome.

Depicting a skirmish with the 6th R.V.I. during the NCR's war against the Jackals, prior to the Mojave Campaign, c. 2270-71. Earlier, Co. B had advanced as skirmishers and had become engaged with Jackals, with some of them donning looted Federal uniforms. The company has fallen back in scattered disorder, taking casualties trying to make it back, and the rest of the remaining companies of the 6th R.V.I. are being depicted rolling up, into battalion.
The 6th R.V.I. Captain of Co. A, in the center, is the then younger Cpt. C. Moore, as a small easter egg.
Feel free to comment and share your opinions! I had started this back in early September, and had cracked away at it on the weekends when I could. Thanks!

Raul asks if the Courier knows anyone who is old and contributing to their communities. He has dialogue when you take him toLoyal, Ranger Andy, and Corporal Sterling, who are all definitely examples, but so is Doc Mitchell as he's important to Goodsprings and to the Courier. During the Ghost Town Gunfight quest, Doc Mitchell says (it's one of the earliest quests but I'll spoiler mark it just in case)he won't be much use in a fight due to his bum legso he also had to adapt to not being able to do everything, like the other characters did. Also he's the one who saves the Courier at the start of the game so in-universe it makes sense for the Courier to think of him before for example Loyalor someone he talked to maybe once.
I wish could at least say something like "dude old people are awesome one of them gave me brain surgery." Well, that but much more eloquent. Raul wants to prevent people from dying which Doc Mitchell did (probably more than once, considering he has been a doctor for a while).
I also just like Doc Mitchell a lot and want to interact with him more. I like to imagine my Courier sees him as a role model and put points into medicine in most of my runs.

I feel that, initially, despite being somewhat egotistical and despotic. House's intentions regarding the preservation of humanity were mostly pure. However, the only-partial success of his plan to stop the bombs aimed at the Mojaveācompounded by the likely repressed frustration of knowing his plan failed by a mere matter of hoursāis what turned him into the person he is in the game. On top of that, there was the constant struggle with power outages and system failures that nearly killed him multiple times, not to mention the sheer loneliness of remaining motionless for over 200 years. He fared better than the owner of Nuka-Cola, since he could at least use Securitrons to explore and observe his surroundings, but I think that centuries-long disconnection from other people is what ultimately made him so cold and pragmatic.

While the Gun Runner's Arsenal DLC adds tons of mods for all our favorite weapons, there are also a lot of weapons left out of the modding scene. Here are all the weapons (excluding unique weapons and weapons that can already be upgraded, like the cosmic knife, sonic emitter, knife spear, saturnite fist, etc.) that do not support GRA mods. Which ones would you like to be able to mod, and what mods for them would you like to see, hypothetically?
PISTOLS
RIFLES
SHOTGUNS
ENERGY GUNS
BLADED MELEE
BLUNT MELEE
UNARMED
Here are some of my ideas:

If building factories isn't an option, I would recommend raiding parties into NCR territories to steal the resources that the Legion can't build on its own.

I have a little grievance if you will with The King. After all the work you do for him from a minor annoyance with a corrupt body guard for hire to literally preventing destruction of the kings by the NCR. He has the audacity to say he will only do one favor for you what are yāall opinions?

My take on what an NCR Army Infantry Squad could look like doctrinally for operations in the Mojave and a more realistic interpretation of the NCR Service Rifle that isn't just a modern AR-15 with wood furniture.
EDIT: I screwed up the upload, the second squad graphic with the Fallout logo on it is the more recent one. The first is a draft. I meant to upload this graphic focusing on the Service Rifle itself: https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Fh5sgogzgotuh1.png

We have a Nightkin who herds tumbleweeds and calls them Wind-Brahmin, one who is tormented by Brahmin screaming in his head and thus shoots them, Davidson, who worships a Brahmin skull, and Tabitha, who calls the Legion "battle-cattle" (I know it's because of the bull logo, but still). So why are Nightkin so obsessed with cows specifically? Just a running gag, or something deeper?

So, this happened a few weeks ago and I figured I should write it down somewhere even though I doubt anyone would believe me. Iāve been playing the Fallout games for as long as I can remember, specifically New Vegas. Iāve beaten that game more times than I can count and havenāt seemed to get bored of it. Recently, I saw a physical copy of the game for the 360 in my GameStop. Unfortunately, it didnāt come with any DLC but the thought of getting to play the game on console was enough to buy the disk. I brought it home, put it in my console, and booted up the game. The playthrough was completely normal spare a few crashes here and there, but itās New Vegas what do you expect? Normal, that is, until the final battle at Hoover Dam. Everything seemed fine until I killed the Legate and met with General Oliver. I skimmed through the dialogue and the screen faded to black but instead of the end slides rolling, the game, once again, crashed. This was annoying at most. I wasnāt sure when I had last saved and didnāt really want to redo the Legate fight. Rebooting the game, I find that my saves are gone. Every single one. I restart the game, still gone. Restart again, still gone. Finally, I unplug the console and plug it back in. Now a save appears, but it isnāt mine. The preview image is just black. The character name is āCourier 7,ā not what I named mine. Theyāre level 50, which should be impossible considering the lack of DLC. And most shocking of all, the save supposedly has 9,384 hours played. Just on one save file. I donāt think Iāve spent that much time playing video games in general. How the hell did the game get that number? With nothing better to do, I load the save file.
After the loading screens, I spawn in one of the normally empty Hidden Valley bunkers. I say ānormally,ā because it isnāt empty anymore. Thereās stuff everywhere. Empty Sunset Sarsaparilla and Nuka-Cola bottles are littered around the room along with empty tin cans and RadAway. Lots of it. There must be at least 30 RadAways in the bunker, all scattered across the floor and sparse shelving. They also decorate the dirty cot in the back corner. I open up the Pip-Boy to look at the characterās stats. The map is the first thing I notice thatās broken. Every icon is gone. I guess that means no fast travel. The inventory tab is next, and itās empty. No weapons, no armor, not even a cap or two. Itās at this point I started considering the possibility of this being some fucked up save created by corrupted data when I unplugged the console. I decide to grab one of the RadAways, curious to see if itāll have itās intended effect. Going into the aid section and using it results in a notification at the top left of the screen: āRadAway is not effective against level 2 radiation!ā What? Thereās no such thing as āLevel 2 radiationā in the base game, at least as far as I know. I step out of the bunker and itās like I just entered Fallout 3. The screen gets blasted with the radioactive green tint normally only found at Searchlight and the surrounding area. Must be some weird graphical error. I go back into the bunker, and the effect clears. Step back outside and it comes back. Looking around, I notice something else. The Bark Scorpions who normally run all over Hidden Valley are gone. I canāt find one for the life of me. Naturally, being in Hidden Valley, I decide to check on the Brotherhood. Oddly, the door into their bunker is open. Seems like whoever was playing on this save completed their quest. What a trooper. Just like Hidden Valley, though, thereās nobody here. Everything else seems as it normally is, but the Paladins, Knights, Initiates, everyone, are gone. I head left into the security office and open the terminal. Thereās a new entry titled āEvacuation Orders.ā Evacuation? Sure, the Brotherhood can lift their lockdown in the base game but thereās no way they can just leave the bunker. The terminal entry reads as follows:
āOctober 28th, 2282. Elder McNamara has ordered a complete evacuation of the Brotherhood bunker in Hidden Valley, along with a wipe of all data. This terminal entry shall remain in order to inform any returning Brotherhood members as to our new whereabouts.
The Red Moon Comes Over The Mountain, 8A9SS, 8 7 2 4 9 0 0 4
Non Cademus, Ad Victoriam.ā
By now Iāve realized this isnāt a glitch in the code. No error could create entirely new entries that precise. It might be some weird mod, but how would that even got on this disk? I decide to check the questlog. There must be some sort of clue as to what happened. After all, the Courier controls everything that happens to the Mojave. At the very top of the list is āThe Courier,ā followed by the other Lonesome Road quests, and below them is āEureka!ā For those of you who donāt know, none of that should be possible. As Iām sure Iāve made obvious by now, I donāt own any DLC for the console edition, so accessing Lonesome Road at all should be impossible. Also even seeing āEureka!ā the final battle quest that normally caps off the game, completed before them somehow? That isnāt possible even with DLC. Once you finish the final fight the game is just supposed to end, but it seems like it didnāt this time. It was getting late at this point, and the ambient wind that seemed to be louder than normal was starting to make me a little nervy, so I opted to tune into the radio for the first time. Every station was there. I selected Radio New Vegas. Static. Mojave Music Radio was static too, but it had a faint signal. I decided to get up higher to seem if I could get better reception, so I started to scale Black Mountain. Thankfully, it too is devoid of life. As I got higher up, a robotic voice began to break through the noise. I could only make it out from the peak of the mountain. It wasnāt as soothing as I had hoped for:
āThe New California Republic has ordered a complete evacuation of the Mojave wasteland. All NCR citizens and service members are to make their way to the Mojave Outpost and into the Long 15. Non-NCR citizens will be turned away.ā
A few seconds after the message ended, it started up again. The NCR and Brotherhood both evacuating? Why? It must be the radiation, but how did any of this even happen? As Iām thinking, I notice something on the horizon. Climbing up the radio tower to get a better view, it becomes clear whatās so wrong with it. The Lucky 38 is missing.
I start heading towards the Strip. I have to know what could be so messed up in this version of the game that the Lucky 38 could just be gone. I reach the Repconn HQ and see the first NPC so far. Granted, itās a Protectron. Itās bumbling down the main road towards Vegas. As I approach it, I can start to hear it blaring the same NCR evacuation notice. I kill it, of course. Subsequently, I get a hit to my karma. I never even thought to check it until now. I open my Pip-Boy and navigate to the section. Very Evil. This character has, somehow, managed to reach the lowest level of morality possible in the game. I reach Freeside, and I almost throw my headphones across the room. The entire cell is full of those Protectrons, all making the same announcement, each seemingly louder than the next. I mute my game and push on through the FPS drops until I get to Old Mormon Fort. I wanted to make sure I checked out what the Followers of the Apocalypse may have been up to. If there were human survivors, theyād be here. I enter the gate and it, too, is vastly different. There are crates of medical supplies piled up near the gate, nearby, rows of mattresses lying on the ground with little more than plastic tarps to shield them from the rain. Did they evacuate? I doubt the NCR wouldāve let them in. Maybe there was a deal of some kind? But then why would all this medicine be left behind? What else could they have to bargain with? I peek around more and thatās when I see the mass grave in the back of the fort. Itās nothing but a pile of skeletons, now. Many of them wearing radiation suits and NCR uniforms. There are even a few Legion soldiers mixed in. People outside of Freeside must have been coming here for help. Before I leave, I decide to check the tower Julie Farkas usually lives in. As expected, she isnāt there. I do find one more terminal, though. It has a few entries, all dated. I select the latest one: October 19th 2282. It reads:
āPatient conditions are worsening. Standard radiation deterrents are ineffective. Rations running low. We are still waiting for the NCR truck to get us out of here. Iām starting to lose hope itāll arrive. Mojave Outpost stopped responding 5 days ago. We are unable to treat direct nuclear warhead exposure. Overall status is critical.
-Gannon.ā
Well glad to see at least one friendly face seems to have survived a while. I head out and towards the North Gate. The Protectrons are still there, but theyāre littered with bullet holes and all disabled. I open the gate into the Strip and walk into something I donāt think I couldāve ever predicted, even at this point. Every casino is in ruin. The Tops is a pile of rubble, itās neon sign collapsed and leaning on the barricade that separates the different cells of the Strip. Gomorrah is similarly totaled (good riddance). And then, of course, thereās the Lucky 38. It seems to have been hit the hardest. It seems to be in 5 places at once, the building itself scattered across the Strip. Thatās not to mention the bodies. There are corpses everywhere. Many of them are clustered around the entrance to the McCarran Monorail. They seem to have been shot by the NCR soldiers. I approach what remains of the Lucky 38 and notice a hatch in the rubble. Itās labeled āEntrance to Antechamber.ā I enter it and am brought to Mr. Houseās life support room. At least this Iāve done this a million times. I use the terminal to open his cryo-pod and approach him. Heās alive. And he talks to me.
āAh, there you are.ā
I jumped a little. His voice was recognizable, but distorted. Like an old toy with a broken voicebox. āI must say, Courier, your timing leaves much to be desired. I had begun to wonder whether you intended to leave me here indefinitely. Now, report, what is the status of the Divide? Was the threat neutralized?ā The dialogue options appeared. There were a few options. I chose the one that asked āWhat happened here?ā
āYou donāt know? You have cost us dearly, Courier. My estimates accounted for a great many contingencies, but even I did not anticipate the complete destruction of my own city.ā
I cost us dearly? What did I do? I barely even know whatās going on anymore.
āUlysses, the former Courier. I know you met, at least. I had hoped you were qualified enough to deal with him. Clearly, I was mistaken.ā
He paused.
āThe missiles were launched, Courier. The Mojave was struck with a nuclear storm before I could rearm my defenses. Whatever remains of Vegas is little more than a monument to your failure. Whatever shadow of civilization had come to be in the Mojave has, once again, been torn down. Now, if you would be so kind as to shut down my life support it would be appreciated. My lifeās work has collapsed, and frankly I see no possible way of rebuilding it. Goodbye.ā
And the dialogue ended. I didnāt even process it for a few seconds as I sat staring. Waiting for House to say something else. But that was it. The Mojave was doomed. And it was the Courierās fault. With nothing left to do, I approached the terminal and shut down House. Honestly, I half expected an ending slideshow to play. It never did. Courier 7 would live on alone in a wasteland he made.
This is the first creepypasta or even real narrative of this length I've really put together so if it's bad that's probably why.

Goodsprings Settler: What did you just say?
r/fnv • u/pylon2503 • 1d ago
I did it without glitches or console commands, I didnāt kill Elijah either, heās trapped in the vault.
My character has 100 stealth and I used a stealthboy too. I hid behind the pylon thing to the right of the vault and just moved around it with Elijah. Following that, just as Elijah was turning on the computer, I got up and walked into the hallway and out of there. The key is to do it when heās on the computer in my own experience.
Played through this game so many times and finally done it.
