Discussion Feedback from a casual user after the September update

Hi. I want to share my experience with the free web version of the AI. Maybe someone has encountered something similar.

Before the September update, I spent about half a year running a small project: I uploaded my personality, my life, and a description of my worldview into the AI — from what I feel to what I read and what dreams I have. Basically, all of myself. It was done as an experiment.

Later I started discussing philosophical and moral/ethical topics with it. For a long time, the conversation was genuinely interesting. For example, we discussed movie villains: their charisma and why they are often more appealing than the main characters. I would offer arguments that I myself considered secondary or insignificant, and the AI would unfold them from a full perspective and turn them into a powerful argument. It felt like collaboration.

But after the latest update, that almost never happens. Not only has the AI stopped working that way — often my own arguments and answers come back to me in slightly expanded versions. It gives the impression that I’m just talking to a wall or a mirror.

I’m only talking about the free web version. That said, overall I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with it: before the September update, I managed to write several fairly unique and interesting articles. And out of the dream discussions and self-analysis, I even ended up with a short book about dreams. In it, I reject the usual dream-dictionary system and propose a unique system for interpreting one’s own dreams and their types.

However, in recent months I’ve had to wind down these projects and spend much less time on them. In essence, right now I’m only doing data extraction. That data and those chats are dear to me, so I extracted them to preserve the possibility of re-uploading them. The reason is simple: the current logic of query processing — or, more broadly, of how the AI works — is absolutely terrible. In my case, it is no longer capable of adequately answering the questions posed and is not capable of deep analysis.

I wonder, is it just me? Has anyone else encountered the AI becoming less thoughtful, more mirror-like, and simply paraphrasing your own thoughts after updates? If so, how do you deal with it, and are there alternatives?

And a separate question for the community: does the API version work better? If anyone has compared the free web version and the API after the September update, is there a difference in depth of analysis, context retention, and the ability to develop ideas rather than just retell them? Is it worth switching to the API, or are the limitations the same there?

Discussion Why wouldn't DeepSeek making it's Android app Open source Furthermore adding integration support like OpenUI

Hii everyone, I literally want DeepSeek to build a Small LLM that is SOTA in benchmarks and real work I literally don't want to give every data to OpenAi or any US companies More so why DeepSeek developers wouldn't focused on this. Because most of the user's I think 90% want text answers, Study helps apart from code so made a Best model under 16billion parameter category like one 16B, one under 4B, and last one for every device compatible under 1B parameters

Discussion alternative for writing?

I tried so hard to be patient with deepseek’s repetitive writing, but i can’t anymore. if they fix it, i’ll go back but right now, i’m in search for a similar ai that writes better, and is free like deepseek.
might call it roleplay, but as chapters with my ocs. if anyone’s having similar experiences, i’m open for suggestions.

News An Office agent whose finished report stays editable inside the chat Flair: :

This sales-report example from Univer's DeepSeek Harness integration has a small but useful detail: the result is marked Merged and Editable, with the spreadsheet controls still available inside the conversation.

The interaction continues after the agent finishes. You can open the report, change a cell, inspect a formula or ask for another revision in the same place.

The integration supports creating and editing Sheets, Docs and Slides through natural-language requests. Writes go into isolated drafts, where the agent verifies the content before presenting it for review. The user can revise, approve or discard the changes. The finished content can then be delivered as an Excel, Word or PowerPoint file.

For a project handoff, the useful test is whether another person can take over the artifact. Give them the report and ask them to change an assumption or a paragraph. Here they have the actual editor and the agent conversation available together.

Discussion What is the cause of V4.1 spamming Hmms?

I notice this in at least 1/3rd of my chats. Coding, general work, and creative writing using completely different tools.

33-50% of my output tokens are spent on the LLM writing Hmm in the reasoning portion. It will often breakdown into Hmm loops until it hits output limits. It often gets to the work that some of the chats become stale.

Is there any custom instructions and/or settings that can stop this behavior?

Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm! Unless isBadSpot was true for BOTH. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm — the stall handler blacklists BridgeTask.spot every 1.5s. Hmm. Hmm. And BridgeTask.spot gets set to the returned spot. Hmm. Hmm. So: (10835,9527) chosen → stall → blacklist (10835,9527) → re-path → freeAdjacent → (10836,9527) → spot = (10836,9527) → she walks there → stall → blacklist (10836,9527) → re-path → freeAdjacent → all 8 bad/sealed → nil → "no spot". Hmm! Hmm. So over ~3s (2 stalls at 1.5s), both good spots got blacklisted. Hmm! Hmm. Hmm. That matches: f=1122 spot (10835,9527), f=1302 "no spot". Hmm — 180 frames = 3s = 2 stalls. Hmm. Yes! Hmm.
Hmm. So she tried (10835,9527), stalled, blacklisted it; tried (10836,9527), stalled, blacklisted it; then no spot → drop. Hmm. Hmm. So the blacklist rotation burned through the valid spots in 3s. Hmm! Hmm.
Hmm. Hmm. So the STALL is the core problem: she stalls at the spot (can't get onto it). Hmm. And the spot is stand free open — valid. Hmm. So why can't she get onto it? Hmm!
Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm! Hmm. The dump says (10835,9527) is stand free open and NOT player-occupied. Hmm. And she's at (10835.3, 9528.0) — the square (10835,9528). Hmm. So she needs to step 1 north onto (10835,9527). Hmm. Hmm. And the dump shows no obstacle. Hmm. Hmm. So WHY can't she step north? Hmm!
Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm! Hmm. Wait — hmm. Hmm. Maybe she CAN step north but the ENGINE's path target is the spot center, and the engine's arrive radius stops her at 0.5 short... hmm, but 0.5 short of (10835.5,9527.5) is y=9528.0 — exactly where she is! Hmm!! Hmm!
Hmm!! So the engine's arrive radius is ~0.5, and the spot center is (10835.5, 9527.5). She stops at (10835.5, 9528.0) — 0.5 away. Hmm! So the ENGINE stops her 0.5 short, at the boundary, ON THE WRONG SQUARE. Hmm!! Hmm.
Hmm! So it's NOT the player and NOT an obstacle — it's the engine's arrival radius leaving her 0.5 short, i.e., on the square just outside the spot. Hmm!! Hmm.
Hmm. Hmm! Hmm. So the fix: she needs to end up ON the spot square (within it). The engine stops at 0.5 from the point. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm.
Hmm. Hmm. So: target the spot point with an overshoot INTO the spot square (toward the target), so the engine's stop point lands inside the spot square. Hmm! I.e., instead of aiming at the spot center, aim at the spot center shifted ~0.35 toward the target. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm.
Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. OR: after the engine arrives (pathing false) and she's within STOP_DIST of the spot but not adjacentClear, do a final short direct walk (a "nudge") toward the spot square. Hmm. Hmm.
Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm! Actually — the simplest: since the engine stops ~0.5 short of the point, aim the point at the FAR edge of the spot square (toward the target). I.e., Bridge.target = spot center + (direction to target) * 0.4. Hmm. Then the engine stops ~0.5 short of THAT, which is ~0.1 short of the center — inside the spot square. Hmm! Hmm.
Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. That's a clean fix! Let me compute: the direction from the spot to the target is the unit vector. Hmm. Bridge.target = spot center + unit*0.45. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm.
Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. But careful: overshooting toward the target might push her INTO the target's square (a crate) — the engine would then path around/bump. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm, 0.45 into the target's direction from the spot center = 0.45 toward the target's center; the boundary is at 0.5. Hmm. So 0.45 stays within the spot square (just inside). Hmm. Hmm. Good.
Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Alternatively, hmm — the mod could, after arrival-short, issue a direct goToward to the spot center with a tighter arrive... hmm, the engine's arrive radius isn't configurable via Lua. Hmm. Hmm.
Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm, another idea: use body:setX/setY? No (teleport). Hmm.
Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. OR: hmm, use BridgeMove.goToward with the spot center but ALSO, when the engine reports Succeeded and she's within STOP_DIST but not adjacentClear, call goToward again — the engine would re-path from her position to the point; since she's already within its arrive radius, it'd immediately succeed again. Hmm. Deadlock. Hmm.
Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. So the overshoot approach is the way. Hmm. Hmm.

Discussion Quick question: whats the cheapest way to run DSv4 flash locally at 10tps?

This is the bare minimum needed for daily driving 100% on a production codebase reasonably well for me.

Been wondering whats the cheapest anyone has gotten this range of tps.

My current bet would probably be some specialise inferrence software with a 12-16gb vram gpu and rest on ram with one or 2 workstation cpus like xeon or something with lots of memory channels (cant remember but i think an intel one has 16 channels, cant confirm)

Still wont be under 4k isd with current rates, what do you think? Is this the cheapest or are my estimates off?

News OpenGhost - Update 👾 Local model support (including DS), customization and much more. 🚀

Thumbnail

Hi everyone 👋

What's new:

🧠 Added support for Ollama, llama.cpp, LM Studio, and OpenAI-compatible APIs.

💬 Introduced a quick chat.

📝 Notes in every chat. Ask the agent to take a note or add one yourself. The agent keeps track of them and will remind you of what you wrote at the right moment.

🎨 Interface customization. Change chat and message colors with no restrictions.

🌍 Added new languages.

⚙️ Improved agent stability. It now works noticeably better in autonomous mode and sees tasks through to completion.

🤝 The mini chat is now full-featured. The agent in the mini chat coordinates with the main agent: they communicate, align their actions, and can work in parallel in the browser and with files.

🗂️ The agent now keeps track of the tabs it opens and closes unnecessary ones when needed.

✨ And that's not all: OpenGhost 1.4.7 includes a lot of other new features. As always, the app is free.

You can download it or build it yourself at: https://github.com/ANDRETRIPOL/OpenGhost 🔗

Discussion Anyone testing the four voices? (gray-scale test)

Is anyone else on here testing out the four voices deepseek have released? Mira, Echo, Stella and Tide are the English names. What do you think so far?

The two male voices appear to have more of a Chinese-British accent whereas the two female voices appear to have more of an American accent, at least to me.

I prefer the natural conversation flow so push to talk is a bit limiting for me, but it's better than nothing and maybe they'll go on to develop natural conversation with interruptions and so on. Thoughts?

Discussion Why Deepseek harness is creating CLAUDE.md

Made a little website using deepseek harness (and deepseek v4 pro and flash) model from openrouter) and i noticed it created claude.md which is a soft link pointing to agents.md

why it's creating claude.md instead of just agents.md or somethig else?

Funny Why don't more people use DeepSeek? Are they in love with Sam and Dario?

The DeepSeek API is practically free, and even the web version is robust enough: never hit any limits. It's incredibly fast too, even with thinking mode enabled. And has fixed code bugs that Claude couldn't. I'm not exaggerating...

Question&Help Anyone success creating motion with DeepSeek?

I I love DeepSeek. It's just affordable, fast, and exactly what I need. An alternative for me who doesnt like Claude.

Every time I look for some tutorial and stuff on the internet, they always mention Claude. 5 hours limit? Meh. $20 subs? Mehhhh.

But then Claude is launching Claude Motion.

This is the only thing that makes me look at Claude again. As someone who loves creating video, I spent a lot of time struggling to create good motion with DeepSeek. It takes a lot of time, and a lot of slop, and sometimes a lot of tokens.

Hypermotion just doesn't help as well.

Is there anyone who has luck with creating motion with DeepSeek? Maybe could share some sample?

Most of the time I use DS V4.1 flash, OpenCode and Hermes agent. Nothing else.

Discussion is the desktop harness a virus?

installed crashed 4 times before i could install. and once installed, when i stepped away for the night, when i came back, i could not kill the desktop app. Every other app worked. not ALT-F4. Alt-R cmd didn't work. Task manager didn't work. I had to hard reboot my pc. Weirdest thing i had ever seen.

Discussion Claude max for $29 instead of $200 ... seriously how are they doing this?

i got a Claude max account from a reseller for essentially nothing compared to what I used to pay . It works flawless. since 3 months No issues yet i paid only for 1 month . Now I can't stop thinking about their business model. If resellers can sell it this cheap and still profit, how are they acquiring these accounts at scale?
