Self Advertising An Etsy Alternative Built for Handmade Sellers (Accepting 50 Founding Sellers)

Hey everyone,

We’ve been building a new handmade-only marketplace called Yarnnu, and I’m opening up 50 founding seller spots for people who want to help shape it from the start.

Yarnnu isn’t a quick experiment or a “launch big or die” startup. We're in this for the long haul. Handmade marketplaces take time to grow, and we're not expecting overnight numbers or chasing explosive viral success. Our goal is a stable, modern, seller-focused place that improves step by step.

We also want to stay investor-free. No outside pressure to chase volume, loosen handmade rules, or compromise the seller experience. The direction Yarnnu grows will come from the sellers on the platform and there’s a public suggestions board where anyone can propose features and vote on what matters.

Here’s what’s already real and working today:

Founding Seller Program (50 spots)

Founding sellers get benefits permanently:

  • 8% commission instead of 10% (lifetime)
  • Stacks with referral rewards every 3 sellers you refer gives an extra 2% reduction for 1 month
  • Personal onboarding help if you want hands-on assistance getting products listed or your shop set up, I’ll walk you through it
  • Priority placement in search
  • Handmade-only community no AI listings, reselling, mass-produced items, print-on-demand, or dropshipping
  • Worldwide availability (as long as Stripe Connect supports your country)

Available until all 50 spots are filled.

What Yarnnu Already Has (working features)

Seller Tools

  • Product variations with stock & pricing
  • Built-in image cropping, compression, watermarking
  • Drag-and-drop photo reordering
  • Category autofill suggestions
  • Product duplication
  • Shipping profile duplication
  • Multiple shipping options
  • Country-specific shipping rates
  • Simplified product creation workflow
  • Clean checkout
  • Seller dashboard (basic but functional; improving)
  • Sellers can follow other shops if they want
  • Optional shop location details (country shown; city/state optional)

Buyer Features

  • Multiple wishlists
  • Shop following
  • Modern product page layout
  • Built-in currency conversion

Platform Features

  • Product view analytics
  • Search analytics (admin-facing for now)
  • DMCA form
  • Clear handmade-only policies

What’s On The Horizon

(Not advertised as finished we just want to be transparent.)

  • Seller subscription options for advanced tools
  • A simple website builder for sellers
  • Custom order payment flow (form exists, checkout flow still in progress)
  • Community features (forum, handmade events/markets calendar)
  • Material and inventory handling
  • and so much more. We're not done we're just getting started!

These will roll out gradually.

The Goal

To create a modern, handmade-only marketplace that supports makers instead of drowning them in noise.

A place that grows slowly and steadily.

A place built on feedback, not investor demands.

A place where the tools reduce admin work instead of adding more to your plate.

A place where handmade shines and isn't drowned by AI, dropshippers, or resellers.

If you want to apply for one of the 50 founding seller spots or just want to ask questions, feel free to comment or DM. We’d love feedback from handmade sellers.

So how does this all work? We have a few questions before you can sell on Yarnnu. We don't want to call it an application because that sounds scary! We just want to make sure you're a real person selling real products. If you make handmade, you'll be fine we're not looking to exclude people just trying to avoid the Etsy slop problem.

FAQ

What does pricing look like?

No monthly fee. We take a 10% commission when you make a sale. The way we look at it if we charged a monthly fee that doesn't necessarily make us motivated to get you a sale. With the commission fee we only make money when you do so we want you to make sales.

Who can sign up?

Anyone over the age of 18 can sell on Yarnnu as long as you are selling handmade.

Why Yarnnu?

Modern clean UI, strict handmade policy, Stripe Connect for simple trusted payment handling, and seller focused features

Where can I find it?

Self Advertising I built a marketplace for Makers and would love your opinion

I built Willaphant, a Maker-Made marketplace for products made by the people selling them.

I tried to solve many of the issues I learned about with other selling platforms, but I keep wondering if I missed something.

I’m weirdly nervous about reaching out to Makers and asking them to join.

I’d honestly love for some of you to just look around and tell me what you think.

What makes sense? What feels confusing? Is there anything missing that would matter to you as a Maker? Is there something that would make you hesitate to sell there?

And of course, if you do like it and want to join, I would genuinely love to have you.

Self Advertising Trying to grow my tiny crochet business — what should I make next? 🧶

I made my first little crochet collection 🧶🌷 — would love your honest opinion!

I’ve been making crochet products by hand for a while, and I’m finally trying to share my work with people outside my own circle. 🥹

These are some of the things I’ve been making recently — crochet flower pots, cute keychains, small gifts and customised pieces.

What I love most about crochet is that I can make something specifically for a person instead of giving them the same mass-produced gift everyone else has. ❤️

I’m curious:

Which one would you actually buy as a gift? 🌷 Crochet flower baskets and pots

🔑 Customised keychain

👜 Crochet bags

🎁 Small personalised gift set

And if you have any suggestions about colours, designs or products you'd actually want to see, I'd genuinely love to hear them.

I have just started my handmade business, so honest feedback would mean a lot. 🫶

Self Advertising I created a free app for makers to sell their creations locally

I built tiny store (www.tiny.store) because I hated Etsy and there was no other platform where I or my other maker friends can sell our stuff at local markets or safely at home.

If you ever wanted to make a website, sell locally, or you already do and hate taking order via DMs, it’d be awesome if you can try tiny out and let me know what you think.

Perks: you get your own website for free, allow local preorders and pick ups, post your events, and put your products with prices for your customers/followers to buy. No fees.

I’d love feedback too! Really lucky to have a strong community here so it’d mean a lot. ❤️🙏

Self Advertising Tired of Etsy's fees? A new Handmade Marketplace

Hi everyone,

This is a follow up to my previous post (which you can find here). To reiterate, we're looking for our first 50 founding sellers. So far, we have 29 which means there are 21 open spots left. We're looking for people who are passionate about the future of handmade and want to help shape a new handmade marketplace.

Yarnnu is here for the long run. We're committed to building a marketplace sellers actually want. We know that marketplaces take time to build and we're not looking for overnight success. (That would be awesome but unlikely).

We also want to remain investor free so that we only answer to the sellers on our platform and they are the ones driving the direction we grow in. Not someone who only cares about how much money they get out of it.

We don't want to drown sellers with fees for this or fees for that. So, if you're tired of fees for everything on other platforms come check out Yarnnu. We only have one simple commission fee + payment processing when you make a sale no listing fee, ad fee, or any other fees.

Interested? You can find the seller application here! Still haven't sold you? Read on and find out more about us.

The Founding Seller Offer

Founding sellers get benefits permanently:

  • 8% commission instead of 10% (lifetime)
  • Stacks with referral rewards every 3 sellers you refer gives an extra 2% reduction for 1 month

  • Priority placement in search
  • Handmade-only community no AI listings, reselling, mass-produced items, print-on-demand, or drop shipping
  • Worldwide availability (as long as Stripe Connect supports your country)

This is only available until all 50 spots are filled!

In order to be considered a founding seller you must apply and create your first product.

What Yarnnu Already Has (working features)

Seller Tools

  • Product variations with stock & pricing
  • Built-in image cropping, compression, watermarking
  • Drag-and-drop photo reordering

  • Clean checkout
  • Seller dashboard (basic but functional; improving)
  • Sellers can follow other shops if they want
  • Optional shop location details (country shown; city/state optional)
  • We also want to share our new feature BULK IMPORTS! If you're coming from Etsy or another platform simply upload your product CSV file, fill out a couple of details and we'll import your products.

The Goal

To create a modern, handmade-only marketplace that supports makers instead of drowning them in noise.

A place that grows slowly and steadily.

FAQ

Where can I find it?

Head over to Yarnnu here!

If you want to get started on the seller application, you can find that here!

What does pricing look like?

No monthly fee. We take a 10% (8% for founding sellers) commission when you make a sale. The way we look at it if we charged a monthly fee that doesn't necessarily make us motivated to get you a sale. With the commission fee we only make money when you do so we want you to make sales. We also use Stripe to process payments, and they have a payment processing fee starting at 2.9% + 30¢.

Who can sign up?

Anyone over the age of 18 can sell on Yarnnu as long as you are selling handmade.

Why Yarnnu?

Modern clean UI, strict handmade policy, Stripe Connect for simple trusted payment handling, and seller focused features

What can I sell?

You can sell both physical and digital items as long as they are handmade or are for the handmade market. For example, you can sell patterns as well as finished goods.

How do you plan to market?

Since our goal is to remain investor free, we don't have millions to spend on marketing, so we have to be smart about it. To start we'll focus on Instagram and Pinterest to find sellers and buyers. Once we find what's working we'll start on paid ads. We have a seller referral program and plan on adding a buyer referral program as well once things start moving.

How does shipping work?

We have the ability to create shipping options. They have a default base price then you can add exception rates for specific zones and even countries.

Stripe doesn't support my country. What do I do?

At the moment we are using Stripe to process payments. We are thinking about and looking at ways to integrate other payment and pay out methods such as PayPal however we don't want to make promises on when that will happen. Stripe has the list of supported countries here.

Self Advertising Handmade inventory spreadsheet for crochet sellers | CA$16.50

Before making another batch, count what is actually left. A fictional crochet-market example: start with 20 finished items, sell 8, and 12 remain. If your target for the next market is 30, that leaves 18 to make. Keeping the remaining count and your next target separate gives you a concrete restocking plan. Disclosure: I sell MarketMakerDesk's Handmade Inventory spreadsheet. It is a paid digital download, created with AI assistance. Price: CA$16.50, in Canadian dollars. The workbook has capacity for 100 items, 500 manually entered stock movements and 50 suppliers, with quantities supported to six decimal places. Sales and stock changes need manual entries; there is no automatic Etsy sync. Importing the XLSX into Google Sheets has been tested. The updated file has not been tested in desktop Excel or LibreOffice. If that fits how you track your handmade stock, the screenshots and full details are here: https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/4588621093/handmade-inventory-spreadsheet-stock-and

Self Advertising FiberFlow - Completely free Android app for your yarn stash! With Ravalry integration!

Thumbnail

Hey everyone,

My wife and I have been working on a passion project for over a year, and we recently released it on the Play Store. It’s called FiberFlow, and it’s a completely free Android app designed to be the ultimate crafting companion for knitters and crocheters.

We built this because we wanted a simple, organized way to keep track of our stashes and works in progress—whether at home, on the go, or offline at the yarn shop—without dealing with ads or subscriptions.

Here is a quick outline of the features we've built in: Smart Yarn Stash: Catalog every skein by brand, weight, yardage, fiber, and colorway. You can even scan ball-band labels with your camera to auto-fill the details and track your needles and hooks.

Pattern Library & Markup: Import PDFs, web links, or photos. You can draw, highlight, add notes, and use built-in row counters directly on your patterns. It also features a keep-screen-on toggle for hands-free crafting.

Project & WIP Tracking: Link patterns, yarn, and tools to specific projects. Track your progress, reorder your cast-on queue, and even recover "frogged" yardage back into your stash if you have to unravel something.

Crafting Tools: We added a "Stash Matcher" to see what patterns you can make with yarn you already own, a Gauge & Substitution calculator, and an offline "Shop Mode" to double-check your stash at the store so you never buy duplicates.

Ravelry Integration: You can easily connect your Ravelry account to import your stash and queue, or you can use FiberFlow entirely offline if you prefer.

Private & Secure: Your data stays locally on your device (with ZIP, CSV, and PDF backup/export options), and there are zero ads.

You can check it out here:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fiberflow.app

Since it’s just the two of us working on this, we would absolutely love your feedback. If you give it a try, please let us know what you think! What can we improve? Are there any specific features you’d like to see added next?

Happy crafting!

Self Advertising Free wholesale-offer calculator for fiber crafters considering a shop order

Online / worldwide; EUR example, or use your own currency consistently.

I’m sharing First Stockist, a free tool from Abastio, which we made for handmade businesses considering a shop’s wholesale offer. It calculates what remains after the materials, packaging, working time and other costs you enter. For fiber work, include your yarn/materials and your actual time rather than assuming a retail discount leaves enough.

https://wholesale.abastio.com/

No signup or payment is required. The page starts with a fictional candle example: EUR15 wholesale minus EUR12 costs and pay leaves EUR3 per item. Replace those inputs with your own; it is not a guarantee of profit and cannot know expenses you omit.

If you are currently considering a shop order, I’d welcome one concrete observation: did the calculation clarify your decision, or is an important cost missing?

Self Advertising Made a free tool for Crafters to make an online store front, accept preordes, and do local pickups - at your booth, coffee shop, or even at home. Lmk what you think!

I started Tiny Store a few months ago because I absolutely hated depending on foot traffic at markets for sales, and missed customers because they didn't know I was vending at their local fairs. Tiny fixes that.

You can easily onboard in minutes, add your upcoming events, start accepting preorders, and allow pick-ups at your booth/table! It’s also great for local meetups if you sell from home or at your local coffee shop.

That said, we’re on the iOS App Store and if you're on Android, give our website a try (in beta - https://www.tiny.store/login). Definitely looking for feedback!

Tiny Stores made by some of you!

Again, incredibly grateful for the CraftCommerce community. Excited to have you on Tiny!

PS: Please reach out if you have any questions, feedback, or ideas on how to make Tiny better. Really want to build the absolute best platform for you and the craft community, and the only way to do that is to do it together. Again, really appreciate you!

I'll add some screenshots below!

Hello Everyone! I'm posting here as the owner of Whimsical Corner to try and drive some traffic to my crochet store! I've been crocheting for almost 12 years now and am self taught as I make these items with love and care. The images of items shown in this post are new items I’ve recently made and are what's currently being sold on my store with more products dropping onto the store page towards the beginning of next month that I'll make another post about here when the time comes. I still have old items I’ve dropped onto the store previously that are also still available for sale on the website. There's also a gallery page that shows off my previous makes if you're interested in taking a look. I also have links inside my website that link to the option of getting different types of commissions from me as well as tipping me on my crochet Ko-fi. I'll provide the links to the store and to directly go to my commissions down below. I hope you'll check out my store or make some purchases. Please share the links with anyone you think might be interested as it would help me a lot. Thank You!

And looking for feedback! If you’re selling physical goods like crochet, art, stickers, or any handmade goods I created tiny store, a tool to create your own website that accepts local orders and helps you set meet up spots for pick ups (I.e. local coffee shop, at your market booth, or even at your apartment lobby).

I posted here last week and so many of you on-boarded! Thank you so much.

Haven’t figured out how to make money yet so tiny store is completely free for people signing up now. I want to take my time here because it’s important we get this right.

That said, we’re on the iOS App Store and if you're on Android, give our website a try (in beta - https://www.tiny.store/login). Or learn more here (https://tiny.store/)

Spent much of February and March putting it together, overthinking, redoing, etc. It's finally out there in the world now though, and I'm pretty proud of it. It's a sewing pattern for a reversible water bottle sleeve. Perfect even for beginners who want to make something really practical and rewarding!

Self Advertising Website for creating tapestry crochet pattern from pixel art

Hello! I have been working on a website to create instructions using pixel art pictures. The idea is to diplay the rows two by two to easily compare them instead of looking at the whole picture ! This helped me make fewer mistakes and work faster in my project (150x150 stitches), and to use a smaller display to watch series while working.

The website is 100% free to use andif you are interested I am really looking forward to your feedback !

Here is the link : https://www.pixlaine.com

The main idea is to only show two rows at once, with a mini display as follow :

You can easily compare the two small rows without counting

When a row is done you can click the white box at the end to cross the row, and the page will automatically scroll to the next one. This means you can put the instructions at the bottom of your screen and have youtube, netflix or anything else open on the rest. You can access this by clicking on "Pattern" -> "Create Pattern"

The picture I used in this example
And the end result !

Self Advertising A New Platform for Crochet & Knit Patterns

EDIT: Pattern Paradise is now live!🥳

Thanks a lot to everyone for their valuable feedback!!😊

https://pattern-paradise.shop

—

Hi everyone😊

I wanted to share something I’ve been working on for the past few months. My name is Joyce, and I’ve developed a new platform called Pattern Paradise, where crocheters and knitters can buy, sell, and test patterns more easily and affordably.

The idea started with my girlfriend, who’s an incredibly talented crochet artist (Instagram: crochet_by_jasmiin). She sells her patterns on Ko-Fi but often ran into frustrations with existing platforms - either due to high fees or missing features that would make the process smoother. With her help, I started building something that would better serve both designers and buyers.

My goal is to create a space where designers can sell patterns without losing a big chunk to platform fees, where running tester calls is simple, and where makers can easily find and share beautiful designs. I know platforms like Etsy, Ko-Fi, and Ribblr already exist, but I wanted to offer a real alternative that puts the community first.

Pattern Paradise officially launches on April 1st, but it’s already live for anyone who wants to check it out:

https://pattern-paradise.shop

If this sounds interesting to you, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Any feedback - big or small - would mean a lot.

Thanks for reading, and happy crocheting!

Self Advertising Rebl Craft - a new online marketplace

Hi folks! I hope this is allowed. I looked for the Sunday self promo post but the only one I see pinned is a year old.

I recently finished creating Rebl Craft, a new online marketplace. The goal is to curate a Collective of makers that have been vetted for quality, so that buyers don't need to sort through the junk of Etsy and other platforms. For Sellers, there are a few plans to choose from and I encourage everyone to start with the Pay As You Go plan, where you only pay if/when you make a sale. As sales pick up, there are other plans you can shift to that cap the platform fees.

It's in it's early stages and I'm looking for more Sellers before I open the shop. I'd love to invite everyone here to apply! Reach out if you have any questions. 🤎💚
