Anime & Manga The differents reaction between shotacon and lolicon genre

As the title said, those genre sometimes if not most, has differents reaction that bothered me. With lolicon, people always disgusted, hating it, mocking, and throw anything bad to the genre or story as if it was the very filthy thing in the existence.

However, it was different with shotacon, since whenever someone try to called it out as disgusting, people sometimes says, "It's a freaking fictional, bro. No need to get serious about it." That answer baffle me and sometimes I wanna says they're hypocrite or double standard but people power or power in number says the opposite to me which sometimes resulting in me getting mocked instead.

I don't know why people always disgusted with lolicon but not with shotacon. When the male in lolicon being pervert, reader/fans would disgusted but when the female in shotacon does the same, reader/fans would be horny and happy with it while also says something along, "Mommy... that's supposed to be me, not him!" or anything like that.

Although it is not on the topic I discussed in the post, the same treatment happens with straight/harem and yuri. The straight romance/harem get the lolicon treatment but the yuri get the shotacon treatment. I don't know why that happens tho...

P.S: Before anyone says about my grammar, I'm sorry for that since I'm not native speaker I can't write it correctly but I'll try to fix it if someone point the mistakes.

Here is my very long multiple point explanation:

When people are young teens they'll often have crushes or have fantasies about people older than them. Like crushing on BTS (Korean boy band), the cute librarian, older sister's friend, fantasy character etc. Part of this could be because teens consume media of people older than them, though I think it's just a natural thing. I think that part of that mentality is still buried somewhere in people's brain which makes that gender less outspoken on those things.

So why do we see it more from shota (besides more men being in the audience)? Well on the one hand I think it is quite prevalent the other way around. The "daddy" craze exists for a reason, which I feel like people gloss over how it is fantasizing about father daughter r*pe. I'm not trying to judge, just pointing it out.

On the other hand, men in history have been more criminalised than women. This stems from the old mentality of "men get punished by other enforcing men, women get punished by their husbands". So when it comes to laws, representation in media, news, it all stems from this mentality. In some ways society takes a while to change. When people grow up seeing men being penalized and reading about perverted male bad guys, it sinks in. Women committing those crimes simply hasn't been normalised yet.

Another aspect is stereotypical physicality. Men stereotypically use more force than women when committing these acts simply because they are physically stronger. Women stereotypically use blackmail or manipulation to achieve the same thing. Traditionally it can be easier to prove force was used than other methods. There's the whole mentality of "force you had no choice, blackmail or manipulation you still had a choice. Therefore force is worse". Unfortunately this then turns into "you chose to have sex with her" rather than "you were forced to due to blackmail". This all leads to people assuming female children being r*ped are all physical force, whereas male children are "choosing" or being seduced.

"Seduction" happens to both sexes and is not actually seduction, it's manipulation and taking advantage. They aren't old enough to consent so there is no actual choice being made. People also assume that if it's a choice, that means that there's a possibility of the adult abusing and manipulating the child. "It could just be pleasurable sex and that's that. The abuser might not do things that bad" Whereas force is agreed on to be bad no matter what. So since the illusion of choice is stereotyped to male victims, it's assumed that male children don't have it as bad.

There is also the societal idea that sex is always good for men unlike women. Which is just false. A man AND a woman can have sex and feel little to no pleasure. Even if they physically orgasm. It may be no physical feeling or it may have the feeling but the emotions are terrible. In fact, this is a major point in courts and psychology. Many r*pists will try use the excuse "but they came so they must have liked it". It's also a major source of shame that specialist psychologists are trained to help with. So when a female child has sex, it is thought of as not pleasurable. When a male child has sex, it's often thought that the man probably enjoyed it. Both can be groomed or manipulated into a "willing" sexual encounter and enjoy it but that's a whole set of issues. Since of course they aren't old enough to make that decision and be safe.

Finally there's the idea of men needing to lose virginity and it being a great triumph. Much more emphasised among men than women. So sex with a MILF when you are underage has many people thinking it's an achievement even if also a tragedy.

There's also the aspect of making up for the lack of affection from older women in life, especially mothers. Same thing as a possible reason behind the daddy kink.

All of these things combined, and I'm sure many more, is why it can be seen so differently. People have their fantasies for sure and I'm not gonna judge. I have some too. But these factors make it so that these fantasies can be more normalised than others. When they are normalised then they aren't treated as harshly, which is definitely not a good thing. I don't know how to wrap this up but I hope this helps. Holy shit I spent too long on this

This is great explanation and I feel even more depressed with how it is displayed in today society.

I'm sorry that you feel that way and I totally get it. I don't know what country you live but I can say there's hope and progress. Laws are slowly changing. There are court cases where new precedents are being made. Organisations are adapting their focus. I get to see it since I work in the field and things are shifting. Heck, the other day I had to edit a Reddit comment because somebody pointed out that a nearby state just massively changed its child abuse laws for the better.

It takes years but it is happening. Just keep asking questions. That's one of the best ways to make change happen and to change yourself too

I hope so and my country is Indonesian. We did a President Election recently but all the candidates are bad or worse. One has zero work credit and quality as he likes to showoff, another is like Hitler 2.0, and the last is just paper pleaser.

its so crazy how you can write this wall of nonsense and just get upvoted because of its length. Like you write about things you know nothing about and since this subreddit is 90% depressed weeb porn addicts. You're just stating your opinions as facts and this sub eats it up lmao

I do youth work and a large amount of my studies and work is around child abuse, laws that affect children, society's view on youth and youth issues. In December I even helped run a youth advocacy event where two hundred young people spoke up about child abuse, sex abuse, mental health and suicide. What I said about how men have been criminalised and the societal view of men in the past is evidence based with thousands of studies and research done. The same goes with the modern reaction to child "seduction". Though I will say that most of the research was done in first world countries so it isn't accurate for all areas.

If there are parts of that you disagree with I'd be happy to discuss it with you. I just want to point out that there is a solid research and evidence base informing what I'm saying. It isn't simply my opinion

Nice ham fisted grab for clout. You wanna offer a counterargument to what he said or are you gonna take the pathetic way out and just strawman him?
