I was stopped at a red light, Canada Way at Edmonds, and this teenage boy was bombing down the side walk, raced across the green light, then dodged through some stopped traffic - trying to catch the 106. He made it, he really did, but the bus pulled out without him. I never stand for that, and often pick people up to take them to a stop in front of the bus so they can get to where they’re going.
My light was red FOREVER but I kept an eye on the kid - to see a minivan pull up to him. They had a brief convo, then the kid got into the van - to chase the bus. It’s great to see other people helping when they see a need.

First time taking the family this year and was wondering is there a good place to park? Or would transit be the best option?

This sound is driving me nuts! There us a wooshing sound, like someone is blowing a huge amount of compressed air every minute or two. It lasts for a few seconds, then stops. And it is constant. I was hearing it at midnight last night, then woke up this morning and was still hearing it. So it has to be a machine or something automatic.

Does anyone know what it is? I don't remember hearing it until yesterday, but I've also been busy and out of the house a lot this week, so it might have started earlier.

UPDATE: Of course, the sound stopped right as I made this post. At least it's over!

Hey all, I’m just wondering if it’s possible for the utilities to make a billing mistake, or if something changed recently regarding pricing.

I live in a 2br apartment and usually my bill is around $60, sometimes going up to $100 if I’ve been using the AC like crazy, but I just received a bill of $370. Any idea what could have caused this? I was using the AC a lot, but nothing different from the last few years.

Any info on candidate Sabina Hsu? she’s not currently on my shortlist but thought I’d ask.

was on my way out and this Filipino guy in a grey sweater approached me saying "i need help". originally thought he was asking for directions, but then he started claiming he was fundraising for his family. i said yes bc i thought i could buy one or two but then this guy shoves 6 chocolate bars in my hand and charges me $20, which is only about $3.33 per bar but still...

should've said no but i'm a people pleaser unfortunately 💀

then he tried to jack it up to $50 and that's where i drew the line because wtf

It was dusk, after the windstorm, and this black kitten, maybe three months old, showed up. Now, this is not the place to let a kitten out overnight, since the local coyotes enjoy dining on cat. We brought the kitten inside. Friendly, obviously well cared for, not exceptionally hungry. Royal Oak and Marine Drive area.

David Xie said he was no longer seeking the city council position with the New Burnaby Party and would run for MLA with the BC Conservatives. However, he said it was too late to take his name off. This lead to a possibility of being elected to both positions which is illegal. He would then have to resign from one leading to a costly byelection.

He said it was too late for him to take his name off the ballot. But it is allowed, he just conveniently didn't try.
