Anyone else getting these text?

Post image

Awfully suspicious right before the midterms lol. Seems like Republican chicanery. Got two today. Guess when you have nothing else to run on you have to lean into culture war bullshit.

Have you heard of copy / paste a web address in a text message? Just cause it points to a website doesn’t mean it’s legit

I went to the website, and it seems to be in favor of respecting gender identity. Looks legit to me

They’re saying an anti-trans org is likely sending these out to everyone to convince gullible people that the pro-trans org in the link is trying to trans their kids. You don’t have to represent an org to send out their website link.

omg "trying to trans their kids" is such a good phrase to illustrate how ridiculous it is

Why the fuck would the Republican Party offer free organic promotion for an organization that successfully helps defeat its bills?

I swear, you all signed up for a voluntary lobotomy.

Free organic promotion? You mean unsolicited spam that plays into a "trans people are coming for your kids to confuse them with gender ideology" narrative that Republicans are pushing ahead of an election? Notice how the link doesn't even mention gender-affirming care at all?

Pretend you are the average hateful suburban republican.

Do you think recieving this text is going to make you cheer with joy that trans people are getting promotion?

Or would it make you froth at the mouth because this confirms they’re ‘transing the kids!’

Its thought experiments like these that one would call ‘logic’ or ‘using your brain’.

Republicans aren’t the target audience for this text, dumbass

If they’re not up to anything, then sharing the link isn’t an issue, right?

Sending them to random people that didn't ask for them? Definitely an issue.

That’s the price of registering to vote.

And that's one of the many flaws in our democracy. There's no consequence for misrepresenting who you are and doing false-flag nonsense like this. Not to mention that people shouldn't have to deal with spam to be allowed to exercise their fundamental rights.

Being registered to vote means you will get contacted by people you want to hear from, and people you don’t. God forbid a candidate try to persuade voters.

As for this particular thing, spam, yeah, but again, where is the inaccuracy in the message? Your issue seems to be more that someone you don’t like is spreading information that you approve that information may look bad to voters

I fully stand by the info on that website and think it should be freely available. That's why it's a public website.

I disapprove of this messaging because sending it to people unsolicited plays into the "trans people are coming for your kids to confuse them with gender ideology" trope when in reality that website contains resources intended for trans people and their families. Nobody who would be swayed by this tactic is going to the website to actually read what is there. Most of it is just legal info, crisis info, and advocacy programs but there's absolutely nothing to do with how to obtain gender-affirming care.

Even if it did mention gender-affirming care, then whoever is hypothetically seeking it out still needs to go through a doctor to get properly diagnosed to obtain it.

This is a pro trans organization that you’re claiming is a Republican psyop because the messaging and timing make you uncomfortable.

Interesting.
