Mod Post Mod post | Moderator application extension.

Hello hello! A quick announcement to let you know that mod applications will be extended for another 2 weeks.

This time around we haven’t had a huge amount of applications and we could definitely do with some more help. With the new school year starting, we can’t say this response was unexpected as the timing wasn’t ideal for everyone.

Also, with Halloween approaching having some additional moderators around will be especially helpful due to the subreddit getting busier at this time of year!

Applications will now be open until Monday, October 12th Pacific Daylight Time.

If you’re interested in joining the team and haven’t already applied check out the moderator applications post below:

I'v been thinking about this all day, so I have a question! with the current lack of mods (at least that are available without overworking themselves) why aren't the applications just kept open until things are stabilized a bit? Im sure there is reasoning, especially as I dont know specifics for average applications, but I was just curious!

If keeping them open for a while is a hassle (whether from application amount, something with managing trainees, or just general preference), it could also be good to check out the current applications to see who seems possibly qualified in order to help lighten the load while you wait for more applicants ^^

Those were my random thoughts as I went about my day atleast!

Reviewing applications definitely is a lot! I sure understand that, and its likely a big factor in why they don't do this. In my opinion doing something about it would be good. As, again, I don't know the average applications given nor the process in deciding who's good, im not fully sure what a good suggestion is. That being said they are probably really overworked and delaying things fully for way to long will only put more on their plate :(

As for the downvotes? ehhh, its reddit, people downvote anything

Hiya - sorry for the slow response!

The main issue with reviewing applications as they come in is that our application process involves all Senior+ moderators evaluating the application individually before we can make a group decision on who to accept.

With quite a few active moderators on break, not all Senior+ moderators have been able to properly go through the applications. On top of that, training new mods individually is quite a lot more work (on the team and the trainee mod themselves) and we want to be able to help our trainees as much as possible! :)

have my upvote also!

That totally makes sense! Only having senior+ moderators reviewing them sure would add some complications, but its awesome that you guys are so thorough. Make sure not to overwork yourselves with them, and hopefully some good applicants apply ^^

Yeah I definitely assumed this was the case when the results weren’t announced after those 3 days! Hopefully more people apply :)
